Mix
the flour, sugar baking powder, and salt all together.
Put in the milk, egg, butter, and corn and stir, but stop just
as soon as everything is wet. Then drop the batter a
spoonful at a time into a pot of deep hot fat (365
degrees). Don't put anymore into the pot than will
fit. Turn them after two minutes or so. After
about four or five minutes they'll be golden brown. Take
them out and let the grease drain off, then pour syrup (or
powdered sugar if you've got it) over them and eat them.
This
recipe will make 12 fritters.
