Diamonds in the Rough SPOILERS

Post by floridagal »

I just finished the game and was very disappointed in it. The backgrounds were extremely well done, but the animation (what there was of it) was wooden and lacking in originality. The premise (which wasn't shown until the end) was just too political for my taste. I agreed with the main character and his feelings about DITR. If I had known more about the game, I don't think I would have purchased it. I couldn't download the trailer, so I was unaware of the poor animation. I am probably in the minority with my feelings about the game, but after all, to each his (or her) own opinion.

floridagal, you're right you have the right to give your opinion and like I usually say when I'm posting a review, it isn't because I love lemon that everyone will love them.

I agree. We can't always love every game out there!

Perhaps a 'SPOILERS' tag in the title would be appropriate?

Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry that my game disappointed you, it is true that the animation was a problem but I'm not sure what you mean by 'too political'. I would love to hear your opinion in more detail.

Perhaps, when I said "political", I should have said "controversial". Oh well, It was only my opinion. I think he did the right thing at the end.

Now the subject mentioned at the end makes me think I want to play Diamonds in the Rough. I like games that incorporate real life issues into the story line. I played The Witcher, an RPG, and the theme of discrimination runs throughout the whole game. Many of the decisions you make in the game shape your character and many have to do with this issue. Loved it!

My goodness, I had no idea that my thoughts would create such a furor.

Oh, goodness, floridagal! You didn't create any kind of furor at all. Like I said in my earlier post, we can't all like each and every game. I've played several that just were not to my taste. And as you said, to each his own opinion! I thank you for making the post as it has piqued my curiosity about the game for me.

Please don't hesitate to express your opinion here at any time. That's the great thing about this site - we welcome and value all the sides of a discussion. What is it they say about opinions? They're just like *unmentioned part of the anatomy* - everyone has one!

Oh dear, Alkis, I went to the website to order the game and found it would be almost $32 in US currency! Yikes! I'd forgotten about how low the dollar had gotten. I think I'll wait until things turn around a bit here...

Hi floridagal ...

I agree with you...I did play the demo...I also thought the graphics were a little ancient...
But I can deal with that...
Then I read some controversy about the ending..Which got my attention !!!!

I prefer not to play any game that deals with Race Or Politics I feel that there are so many other stories that can be told....That controversial ones should be left alone...As it can hurt some people....I will not be buying this game...
