You should be able to take a backup of your website from your host server with a FTP program and download it onto your PC. You can get a new host and upload your copied files. How much of your site is flash? All pages or just a couple?

I had wondered about AP. I used to drop in now and then, but it just seemed to sort of be sitting there! Congratulations on your retirement, Gelert! I've been retired for 11 years this summer and every minute has been bliss!

Hi Ghostlady. It's all Flash. The host is Moonfruit and they host it. A few of us asked some years ago and were told it's not available offline or saveable or backupable by ourselves. They host it entirely on their own server. I've been talking with them over the last few months, as I also have a functioning Photography selling website with the that's part html. They're working on a fix that'll allow us to transfer the websites (everyone's), to a new foundation that will be pretty safe for a good while after Flash discontinues. They say they're very optimistic and they have incentive, because they'll lose thousands of customers otherwise, that pay, like me a yearly subscription of quite a fair whack. I looked into transferring it years ago, but everyone I spoke to in hosting said that Moonfruit was 'different' and couldn't be simply transferred. I can't use it offline at all. It's my misfortune for knowing nothing about website making back in 2007 and nothing about hosters. I saw Moonfruit and just went for it, as I was battling to retain my job at the time (redundancies), and just needed a distraction.

Hi draclvr. The advent of non-boxed games (downloads), destroyed much of the fun for me. Silly, I know. Some games really interest me, but I have no urge to download and play when I have many physical games to play upstairs.

I’m so sorry Gelert, what a loss that is. I doubt at this point in my life if I’d be doing a website over from scratch. You’ll just have to hang here with us.

I know what you mean, Gelert! I get great satisfaction from looking up or to my right to see all my games in boxes or DVDs. But I also have a TON of games I was no longer to play on a modern computer system. GOG/Good Old Games is a great resource for downloading old games which they have been tweaked to be able to play on new computers. They even have Shivers 1 available which made me VERY happy. It's a 16-bit game and simply would not install. I also have Sanitarium and Grim Fandango from GOG and they play perfectly on my high end Windows 10 computer.

AP isn't easily transferred to a different hoster, unfortunately. I can't recreate all those many hundreds of pages all over again. I'd go bonkers. LOL!
You mean again? :-? I seem to remember it was a momentus job putting it all together the first time.

It was, haha! But it passed the (long), time :)

I've kept a Win 98SE system alongside my current pc connected by a KVM (?), switch so I just press 'Up Arrow' with Scroll Lock and I use the 98 system on the same monitor for my old boxed games. Only a few won't run.

I used to mess around with (anyone remember?), autoexec.bat and config.sys files to get REALLY awkward ones to run, but those days are long passed. :)

I even have a Win 95 system stored away for 'impossible' ones like Angel Devoid or a couple of others, but that's just gathering 'antique value'. LOL

Of download only games, a few, like Whatever Happened To Edith Finch? (name correct?), have caught my attention over the years, but I still wouldn't probably play them as I've lots in boxes still.

Anyway, playing none at the moment and waiting for my grandchildren to reach an age where I can have them sitting either side of me, notepad in hand and thinking caps on, just like I did many years ago with my little nippers, when we first discovered these magical story-driven Adventures.

Wait...What???
I had thought that this house had to be demolished to the ground due to something about black mold in the Cellar and Attic. Thats not true?

Hi GreyFuss! Nope...the black in the cellar and antic wasn't mold. Just ectoplasm. As long as it doesn't hurt the wine in the cellar...we're okay with it.

If I recall correctly there was way too much chugging...er...tasting of the Wine in that Cellar back in the day.

Sssshh those secrets need to stay down there. What’s happens in the Winecellar stays in the Winecellar. It’s kinda like Jack Nicolson at the bar in the Shining.
