Will do when I resume! Having a break from the to-ing and fro-ing of Keepsake and playing Lost Land: The Golden Curse for the second time and really it puts Keepsake to shame. Good graphics, puzzles and, best of all, a map for short cuts!! :D

Val,
Are you using the original discs or Steam download version? There is a patch that was put out very soon after the disc version came out, but Steam already has it. Someone posted it in the playthrough over at AG. I'll post it here if you need it.

Using the Steam download version. Only purchased it a few weeks ago. That is what amazed me because I would have thought the patch would have been included with that download. Obviously not. And nothing on the Steam community discussion suggested that there was a patch. Thanks GL if you could and also explain to me how to successfully add a patch. It has been a long time since I have needed to do that.

I'm sorry but the patch may not have anything to do with that glitch, Val. I know it added some things, such as the map, to the original disc version, but the Steam version already has the upgrades built in.

And I looked everywhere, but could not find a saved game for Keepsake. As I remember, the saved game system in this game was a nightmare.

Ah thanks guys! I saved just before the glitch but am wondering whether to continue with it, as apparently there are two other glitches during the rest of the game. Will give it one more shot but if I don't progress then will throw in the towel. Such a shame.

Am part way through Nancy Drew The Silent Spy. The story introduces you to Nancy's late mother, Kate Drew, who was a spy for MI5 and was killed in an "accident" years earlier. The setting is Glasgow, Scotland. I'm enjoying the accents. I'm playing on master level so the puzzles are a bit harder. Thus far I've hit puzzles having to do with codes, a math puzzle, an archery puzzle where you have to get the high score (doable with practice learning when to release the arrow for each target), a colored disc puzzle (like you'd find in a Big Fish game.) You pick up lots of books that help you with information to work out codes. Toing and Froing is by train. You get money by either clicking on "glints" in the various scenes which are coins, or you can make cookies to earn money. I'm enjoying the game so far. GL...I think this one is worth picking up if you haven't done so. Plays nicely on Windows 10.

Sounds wonderful. I just got this one off EBay. It was the only one left that I didn’t have.

I finished the Silent Spy. Excellent game! There are some really tricky puzzles. Not so easy. There are timed sequences...which I hate...but they are doable. One where you have to break in a phone by completing a pattern. You have seven minutes before you could get caught. I messed up because I used only the small pattern at the top of the screen and got kicked out of Scotland. Basically I had the overlap of two colors wrong. Best to look at the larger picture in a book first. Then, there were times when you needed to distract someone by setting off an alarm and hiding. You have a few seconds to get to the hiding spot before you get caught and get kicked out of Scotland. I missed the location of the hiding spot earlier and kept getting caught. So...I stopped the alarm, located the hiding spot...and finally didn't get kicked out of Scotland. The final puzzle is defusing a bomb. It is timed. You kill Nancy if you fail. I finally figured out if I played that puzzle in windowed mode, I could click outside the window and plan my moves. That meant I only killed her once.

The story was poignant in learning about Nancy's Mom and why she left and was killed. You find letters she wrote to Nancy. The overall story in this game was good. Only one "chore" to make money for trains and purchasing needed items. Puzzles were all various kinds of logic puzzles. Lots of codes involved. I was sorry to see the game end, but I'm going to replay it on amateur level to see the difference in the puzzles. Good game.

Yes, I would like your opinion if I should play it on the Amateur level. I don't enjoy it if it is too hard and have to spend hours getting past certain parts. Hold onto your saves for me.

GL...after the replay, I'll let you know. I did find that if you proceeded in the game logically...following phone leads, conversations, etc...one thing led to another. I did resort to UHS a couple of times either because I was impatient or I missed a hotspot. I was always on the right track though. The puzzles are all doable in Master level...so don't shy away there. For one...I took a screen shot then worked it out via cut and paste in Windows paint. Easier than scribbling on a note pad. In another, I took note and wrote down on a pad what I was able to deduce logically so when it came down to "A or B" as a next move, I could easily backtrack to that point when I hit a snag rather than restart the entire puzzle. There is one puzzle close to the end of the game that you think you need to figure out too soon. I figured something was missing so I waited...something happened and the puzzle was automatically partially solved and you got another page which is the puzzle you will need to solve. I will keep all of my saves but you will not need them.

Ok then I'll play at Master level. I was finally able to play a game tonight and almost finished it. I am so ready to move onto something else. A Nancy Drew sounds delightful.

I replayed Silent Spy as Amateur. There are more hints available if needed and the puzzles are a bit easier. I actually found the puzzle where you had to search for pieces of a code breaker in someone's room harder on Amateur level than on Master (they were more visible in Master IMO). Hope you enjoy the game, GL!

I play all the Nancy Drews on master... they are not too bad. I suggest having a notebook because there is often clues that you will want to refer to later. Or in the newer ones I will use the camera on the phone to take a photo of symbols etc.
