Well, skeeter! Now you are ready to play! I had a feeling that might be the problem. Well done!

I am replaying Keepsake after the discussions here! Must admit that even with the option of the map, I am finding it difficult to find my way around. Love/d the game but there is something that still frustrates me - cant quite put my finger on it, but yes, the long runarounds in the academy is one of those frustrations still, regardless of the map! If the map would only pinpoint where 'I/we' were it would help. But that is not really the problem. Cannot really put my finger on what is the problem, but it is still certainly not my most satisfying game to play.

Finished Blackwood Crossing on PS4 (also available on Steam). Such a great game. Love the graphics, fantastic music and such a good story. It's short but bitter sweet and had to wipe away some tears in the end. The main character walks sloooowwwwww though. Great but short experience.

Colpet,
I was so disappointed that the minimum Mac requirements for ROTS exceed those of my current computer, so I'll have to wait a while before playing it. It is interesting that they've included The Book of Dead Ends. I have the paper version of it.

Val,
The changing camera angles can be very disorienting in Keepsake. It took me a while to get used to them. Also, in some areas, your navigation cursor is hard to find, especially in areas with railings.

That's true LadyK! Have turned away thinking a passage was a dead end and only after coming back a couple of times 'found' the cursor to proceed. The camera angles especially in the Great Hall go all over the place. If only the map could include a short cut to an area!

I went through my original ROTS game box and found the manual, but not a Book of Dead Ends. Was that a special order? Or did it come with a more deluxe game version?
I know how you feel about not having the right specs. I waited a while to play Obduction and Quern.

Decided on a Nancy Drew from my pile...#29 The Silent Spy as my next game after finishing 15 Days.

I initially was going to play The Filmmaker, but after installing it on my Windows 10 laptop, I got a few repeated error messages. The game did launch, but when I exited, the screen resolution did not revert to normal. It was really messed up. The readme file on this game does warn about errors if playing in Windows 7 and above. Anyway...I uninstalled it and then rebooted my laptop. Everything is back to normal. Think I will reserve the Filmmaker to my XP laptop.

In the meantime...on to Nancy Drew.

Let me know. It was the last one that I didn’t have and recently got it off EBay.

I bought the game new in 2001 from Dreamcatcher for $19.95, so at that price, I probably bought the guide separately.

I haven't been able to play Obduction yet, but I think Quern will work on this machine.

drac, I can't believe it's been that way for years! Hopefully I can run some fancy games now... not that I have time :( I am still part way through Alcatraz and haven't gotten back to it. I find a lot of games just don't hold my interest like they used to. I think I have less time and patience. And I'm too tired! I have been thinking of replaying a Nancy Drew, you can never go wrong with a bit of Nancy. I must go find that Syberia demo too.

I just got Syberia prologue... it's so pretty! I had to play on medium graphics to avoid mouse lag, I probably could do with switching to low. I only played a few minutes, but I couldn't for the life of me work out how to save it. I will have to wait until I have a bit of time to play it again. I usually only have half an hour or so at a time.

I have encountered an error on Keepsake. The game has frozen on me in the same place twice now - once in the middle of the puzzle and now just after completion. Problem is that each time the screen resolution does not revert to normal and results in rebooting my pc. Took to the internet to see that the problem has been there from the beginning and that the creators haven't responded to cries for help. I have spent a long time playing this game and was really enjoying it this time. And there are three bugs in all.
I have saved just before the start of the cat/lift game where it happens and can easily save before the other known bugs, but is there anyway to restore the screen resolution to normal without having to reboot the pc?

Does changing the resolution in the Windows screen settings (right-clicking in an empty space on the desktop should open them) work for you?

Will try that when I tackle the puzzle again and the same thing happens. Thanks Phlebas!

Yes, just try right clicking and select Display Settings and set it back to normal. Check there first so you know what those settings are!
