Razer scroll button not working
All of a sudden yesterday my Razer Diamondback 3G mouse scroll button stopped working. It happened after a Nvidia update, which is probably just a coincidence, but thought I would mention it. I have been to the Razer Support web site but the driver is one that I have already. So I am wondering what the problem is. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Razer software.

You have already done all the things I would have suggested. I take it the mouse works properly other than the scroll wheel?

Try cleaning it with a dry nubby cloth, RB. Mine sometimes stops working or will only scroll in one direction, but cleaning the button clears that up for me.

And if cleaning doesn't help, I guess you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver -- just in case installing the Nvidia driver did do something to the Razer driver.

And if it's the worst scenario and is actually broken, what gaming mouse would you reccommend? I see they now make a Razer Diamondback Chroma - the size of the diamondback suits my hand, rather than a larger mouse.
The scrolling button used to make a soft "ratchety" noise whenever I used it, but it no longer makes this noise - I think it may have expired on me!

You could also try rolling back that Nvidia driver just in case too.

Done everything suggested here, but still no luck - It is so frustrating without a scroll button. I found an old Razer Deathadder but as soon as I connected it, it said Windows could not recognise this device as it had failed, or something like that.

That's strange - I'm using a very old Razer Death Adder and it's working just fine. Can you plug that old Death Adder into one of your laptops and see if it works there?

Yes, already done that and I got the very same message on 2 other laptops, so I have binned it!

Good move! Got no idea what to recommend... I would be crushed if my old Death Adder died. I find I'm addicted to the back and forward buttons on the left side. If I'm using another mouse for something I find myself pressing buttons that aren't there!

OOh - I was cleaning out my computer cupboard today and I found an old Deathadder at the back, so at least I can use this mouse while I wait for my new one - I thought it might not work because the USB connection is very corroded!

I am reminded of certain casual games where you remove eons of rust buildup by slopping on some sort of equally ancient oil.Rosaboobie wrote:I thought it might not work because the USB connection is very corroded!
It probably doesn't work in real life.
