My gawd, we're all falling apart. Usually when I get my teeth cleaned they ache for about a couple of days, but you should at least be able to eat by now. You poor dear, I hope you get some relief real soon. I hate it when our tenants are not well. Do keep us posted, and remember we care about you :flower:

Back home now - Dentist thought maybe he had not "covered up" the one cavity properly, so he cleaned it out and refilled it with cement, waited a few minutes, then blasted cold air into it to make sure it was now ok. Once he had scraped me off the ceiling - the pain from the last 4 days was NOTHING compared to the pain from this cold air lol - he then made a decision to remove the nerve, but only after I coerced him to give me TWO injections so I would not feel anything. So, how do I feel? Well I am still very numb and am pain free for the first time since Friday.......... But just waiting for the injections to wear off now!

Well, I'm hoping for sore and uncomfortable, but no more of that intense pain!

We were watching a program on old time dentistry and it was remarked that our parents' generation and before would deliberately let their teeth rot until they could all be pulled and they could "have a nice new set". Horrors! we thought - but when I think of what we go through to keep our teeth, i.e. root canals, fillings, etc., maybe they had the last laugh after all.

Have you ever noticed when watching archeology programs and they show skulls from pre-sugar times, how good the teeth are, even in older people? Before the 18th century, honey was the chief sweetener and even that was expensive for poor folk. A lesson to be learned here, people.

Here in the UK we are being shown children as young as 5 or 6 having to have fillings - something very sadly going wrong somewhere.

Even in pre-sugar times, people's teeth were rotting out because of poor oral hygiene and bad diets depending on too much meat and not enough fruits and vegetables. But when we got a "sweet tooth," then things really went downhill further.

I dont have a sweet tooth - My problem is that Jersey never had a free dental care, so because I have been poor most of my life, I am afraid my teeth have suffered. Now I have the money to sort it all out, unfortunately it is far too late - but that is life eh?

I've never had a sweet tooth either - I can walk past a cake or a plate of cookies with nary a thought. I blame a lot of the sugar issues on the prevalence of ultra sweet soft drinks. Things like Coke and Pepsi are the worst things to consume for many reasons. We've never had free dental care here either, but somehow my parents found a way to get us to the dentist despite living like poor church mice! I've always wondered how they managed it. Then when I got married, we had dental insurance, so my boys started going when they were wee ones and I kept it up too.

Is the anesthetic starting to wear off yet?

I'm glad that you at least found out what the problems was Boobie and hopefully the suffering is over. I don't understand what is wrong with people today, how could he forget to fill a cavity. Unbelievable, causing you that much pain if he had just paid attention to what he was doing in the first place. Keeping my fingers crossed that the worst is over and you can get back to normal.

Myself I don't drink soda, although when I'm not feeling well I don't mind ginger-ale. I drink about 1/4 glass of orange juice in the morning and about 1/3 of a glass of milk before bed. I don't know if it's the milk but both of us are sleeping really good lately.

I have steel partials that are stripping the gums off my teeth. I had to get one of my teeth de-sensitized which lasted for years. Funny thing is it only bothers me when I floss it, I hate flossing it makes my gums ache for days. Which reminds me, I have to get to the dentist next month for a cleaning. I hope you feel better tomorrow Boobie :flower:

Glad to say that I am just about back to "normal" - well as normal as I can be lol.

I had quite a good night's sleep - I did wake up in the middle of the night with a slight twinge so I took 2 painkillers - and I have not taken any since.

Oh, the relief to feel human again

Now I have the next dental appointment to look forward to on the 24th April when they fit the bridge - yet another hour of torture in the dentists chair!

Glad to hear you are feeling better, boobie! I neglected my teeth for years due to money and hatred of the dentist. I'd go in only when in bad pain, get the first stage of a root canal done, and not come back til it broke or hurt again. In the end I wasted a lot of time and money having stuff redone, and lost teeth I could have saved. I finally have all root canals finished, but now need crowns. Which I am putting off... :o
