It wasn’t very expensive and I feel like I got good value for the money. As part of the great pantheon of adventure games, this would rank about 1,092 on my list of favorite games, but on the whole, it was decent. I would rate it 3.25/5.
The Last Door (Collector’s Edition)
The Last Door (Collector’s Edition)
This is a compilation of a four-episode series that was released over the course of a couple of years, funded by Kickstarter campaigns. Each episode is a small standalone adventure game, but when you play them all in a row, you get kind of an über-story. I played chapters 1-3 a couple of months ago and then chapter 4 this evening, so I kinda lost the plot
The graphics are made of giant pixels, a strange design choice in this day and age, or even at the beginning of the last decade, which is when these originally came out. However, the gameplay is pretty solid. It is mostly on the easy side, with a couple of real head-scratchers, but no walkthrough should be needed since the game(s) is/are small. Puzzles are mostly inventory-based, and there are no hidden object scenes (unless you count every single item in the game consisting of three or four pixels) or timed sequences.

Thanks Jen for that! The retro look has been popular with some - I did enjoy Thimbleweed Park for instance.
Re: The Last Door (Collector’s Edition)
Thimbleweed Park is a much better looking game than this. I swear, the pixels in The Last Door were even bigger than they used to be in the early days of computer video games.
Re: The Last Door (Collector’s Edition)
I am too spoiled by beautiful graphics. Not sure I would like to play with retro graphic/pixels.
Last night I dreamed I went to Manderley again...

Same here! I even find it quite distracting.

Re: The Last Door (Collector’s Edition)
I purchased the Darkside Detective, which has the same kind of blocky pixels. The stills make my eyes water, but after watching a trailer, I could see that movement makes the graphics better. Also, it's supposed to be a funny game.

I liked Darkside Detective, but it was a bit hard on the eyes. But I think the humour and the shortness kept me engaged.
