Games I've played recently and hope to tackle in the near future.

Post by DracheHexe »

While I happen to like adventure games primarily I have found my brain rebelling against them for the hum drum repetition of open world games that suck up all your time (that is, games that require very little brain power to play). Games I've tackled over the last couple of months include the likes of

Watch Dogs 2
Maneater
Far Cry 4
The Division 2
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Dreadout 2 (the lone exception)

Not too deep of a selection there. Fun for sure, but little depth (except for Man Eater because under water  ) though Watch Dogs 2 is very relevant about personal data and online privacy issues.

Rounding out the list would be two MMOs Secret World Legends and Star Wars The Old Republic. SWL is a very adventure oriented game with some challenging missions that require legwork outside the game to solve (Morse Code, Biblical quotes, musical composition, etc). Thankfully there's plenty of guides for the lazy.

Games I hope to get too soon are a plenty with suck a big backlog. Among adventure-like games are Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls and Detroit Become Human. Some indie horror games like Detention and Song of Horror, Dollhouse, Paper Dolls, Silver Chains, to name but a handful. Just tried starting Lucius 2, and it's kinda rough so dunno if I can get through it, but we'll see. Next on my list for action games are Sniper Elite 4, Hunt: Showdown, and more SWTOR.

Heading on into retro style territory are Corpse Party, Viviette, Detention, and 2Dark.

So yeah, I get stuck in the open world action loop too easily, but my heart still aims for the more thought provoking realm of adventures. So damn many games and so little time.

Far Cry 4 is on my list too. I haven't had time to really dive into a good FPS or RPG game since I played Prey 2017 a couple of years ago. I'm wanting to get the new Vampire Bloodlines game too, but have to install that high end video card that's still sitting on my shelf!

So damn many games and so little time says it all! I'm been toying with doing a replay of the two Bioshock Games, but I think they are blocked on Windows 10 due to the copy protection software. I have them installed on my Windows 7 drive, so I may fire that up!

I did not like Far Cry 4 at all. As usual it was good looking country to explore, but it was too crowded with random stuff that was always getting in my way. A cliched one trick pony for a villain, no main characters that you could really like. A few good points but not enough for me to recommend it. Though I am also burnt out on open world games.

I dunno about Bioshock if they are the originals. I had them on Steam as was upgraded to the remastered versions and they work find on Win10.

I think I have the Steam or GOG remastered versions because my disks would no longer work on Windows 10. I'll have to check. Just a little itch that might need to be scratched!

I've read the same thing about Far Cry 4. Which may be why I've never pulled the trigger on it.

I did take a deep dive into the past and played Diablo II Lord of Destruction - TWICE! I was so intimidated by the game when I first played it I could make it through to the end! Not saying it was easy, but I DID IT!

Was never a big Diablo fan (or isometric action games in general), though I have put lots of hours into Diablo 3 due to a coop partner when it first came out. I don't think I played Diablo 2 at all.

Still, it feels good to conquer games that intimidate you. I completed Dark Souls 3 last year, a series that is dreadfully intimidating.

I wasn't much of a fan of Diablo II either for the isometric factor. But I ended up sticking with it and got totally addicted! Never was interested in Diablo 3.

I played Far Cry 4 a while ago. It was ok.

I also played 5 which is set in Montana with rednecks and a Doomsday Cult are the bad guys. It wasn't very good.

They recently announced a 6th game set in a Cuba type country where you are trying to overthrow Giancarlo Esposito (Gus- Breaking Bad).

Recently I have played Resident Evil 3 remake which was a lot of fun and The Last of Us II which was fantastic in gameplay and graphics etc, but is let down by the story.

Currently playing Ghosts of Tsushima which is an open world Samurai game where you are trying to take back you island from a Mongol Invasion

RE3 remake was pretty good, but not as good as it should have been. RE2 remake was much better. Gotta give credit to graphics engine though because they looked amazing.

Ghosts of Tsushima looks incredible. If it comes to PC one day I'll play it.

While I was at Steam downloading Creaks, I was also lusting after Metro Exodus. I loved the first two Metro games.

I played Metro Exodus on XBOX Game Pass when I got their 3 months for a buck deal a while back. It was mostly real good (a few odd parts here and there) but the last hour or two were just terrible dragging it out with a really, really bad section. Beautiful game, I loved the train, had some really great shooting sections. I do recommended it, just man, that last bit is like "Damn man, why?"

Also, feel free to click on my Steam profile tag and add me on Steam or use my Steam code to ad me 27649921

Think I just did it.

I'm SO out of the normal demographic for these types of games... a nearly 73 year-old great grandma! But a year and a half ago, I flew out to Denver to build a top end gaming PC with my 15 year-old grandson. He'd been wanting to build a computer with Grandma for a long time and finally got the grades mom and dad said he had to get. We had an awesome time and Metro Exodus was the first game he bought!

I see. Well, yeah, it is a shooter, it is violent, andit can be tough on even mid-ranged gaming rigs. Great setting, though not as atmospheric as the underground.
