I've just started playing the first Avernum game from Spiderweb Software. And a bit of a shock to the system as I hadn't expected so many technological differences to the most recent Avernum game.
No path-finding, blocky graphics, more cumbersome user interface for starters. Which doesn't make it a bad game, just difficult to adjust. I'll see how far I get, provided there's a decent story that'll be motivation to continue.
Going retro - playing some older games
Re: Going retro - playing some older games
I think Jude has played some of the games in this series. Sometimes retro is good and sometimes it's more amusing than anything! I've got the mid-90s Goblin games and am having a hard time getting used to so many huge pixels!

Did you get those games from GOG? There's so many classic games I have yet to play!
Re: Going retro - playing some older games
Yes, I did. And they're working perfectly on my 64-bit Window 7. Haven't had time to get into them all that much yet, but I've read the humor in them is pretty good.
