Pillars of Eternity released

Post by Kickaha »

In the tradition of classic turn-based RPGs like "Baldur's Gate" comes "Pillars of Eternity" - see http://eternity.obsidian.net.

This is one I backed, and have downloaded to start playing at the weekend!

Sounds like a nice weekend ahead of you, Kickaha!

I was wrong of course - "Pillars" is real-time combat with pause. Plays like "Baldur's Gate" only a game made now!

I was planning to play it over the weekend, but it took me until Sunday to make it through character creation without crashing so I ended up playing other things instead. So I'm only a couple of hours in (it hasn't crashed since I made it into the actual game), but what I've played of it has been fantastic - it definitely follows in the tradition of Baldur's Gate and the wonderful Planescape:Torment.

What a disappointment to have it crash all the time... There is a thread for the game over at GB and no one there has reported any crashes.

It was quite frustrating - I don't often have that much of a weekend free. I did play through the whole of Fract OSC in the meantime, though!

I haven't had a crash myself - yet - but I am playing on a Mac so that would be different.
