setting up wireless printer

I finally got my new printer and I am having a hard time setting it up. it is wireless so the only cord that came with it went from the printer to our power strip. I downloaded the software from HP but it keeps saying that it doesn't find my printer. so then it said something about searching for my IP address and I did that and I think I put in the right address of my router, but, it still says that it can't find a printer. Do you know what I may be doing wrong? Thanks.

Nevermind. It kept saying that it quit installing as there was a problem, but, when I went to the control panel it had a green check mark. so, I just went to a recipe and pressed control P and walla! it printed. whew.

Excellent! I had an hp printer do that too. I still have it connected with a printer USB cable! Glad you got yours to work!
