If it's the worst case scenario and I have to invest in a new monitor, any suggestions as to which one to buy? Drac recommended an Asus to me last time, which I have really loved.
I did see this one for sale - another Asus - http://www.ebuyer.com/452442-asus-mx279 ... &pkw=&pmt=
I also googled and I found this article - http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/test-centre/ ... k-3217742/

That article is great for information. The initial link is for some VERY high end monitors that are geared more to people who need really high end graphics. I clicked on the Best Budget Displays and that was more like what we normal people use! Check out that link because they do review that ASUS monitor.
I don't know if you read my post about my old monitor dying. I ended up getting a 24" Samsung with a curved screen. The longer I've had it, the more I like it!
But let's be sure you don't have other problems first!

Here's a frustrating factoid: Amazon US - Samsung 27 inch curved monitor - $329. Amazon Canada - same monitor - $574. Ouch. I think a curved monitor will have to wait for a while.

It's down to the exchange rate. A Canadian dollar is only worth about 78 cents American. There are probably other factors involved too, but I'm not familiar with them.

Oh ok, so if I converted both prices into British £s, then I would get approximately the same price?

If what I just saw is correct , the exchange rate is roughly $1.50 USD to 1GBP .
