Installed Updates Windows 10

Post by Rosaboobie »

When I go into Control Panel, Programs and Features, there is a list of Installed Updates - Is it safe to delete these updates?

Also, when I go into Uninstal a Program, I see an awful lot of versions of MS Visual C on my list - Can I safely uninstall all of these, except the latest version?

What are these installed updates for? If it's your Windows 10 updates, then heavens no! You don't want to have to go through that again! I have a ton of the Visual Cs on mine too... I don't know about those, so let me see what I can find out.

Found this and the same or similar answer in different places and forums...
I recommend you keep them; the programs that installed these
packages depend on the MSVC dynamic link library (dll). I recommend
that you keep them. The programs that require them might crash if
you remove them.

These are security updates and if you uninstall them, you will leave your computer vulnerable to whatever holes the updates patched.

I notice you only have a few updates for your Office 2010 Pro and I have over 100 of them for my Office 2010 Home and Student!

Is that because I have only just installed Office 2010?

I suspect that's exactly why... but the Pro version may not have had as many security updates too.
