compatibility view
compatibility view
What does the compatibility view do? Should I have it checked or not? Last week I could print out a jigsaw for my mother from this site and this week when I click on it, nothing happens. I was wondering if that is the problem. however, I haven't changed anything.
Re: compatibility view
The Compatibility Tool makes newer IE backwards display properly with websites that worked on older versions of IE.
Here's a description that shows the little icon.

But if the website worked before with the same version of IE, there may be a change to the website. Or maybe Windows Update did something.
Maybe you could use the Snipping Tool to get a picture of the crossword, and then print out the picture. Here's how to get the Snipping Tool if you haven't installed it already.

Re: compatibility view
You also might try clearing out your browser history and trying again. Sometimes that will hang up something like this.
The snipping tool is one of my most used utilities on Windows 7 and Windows 8.x. But you don't have to install it - it is already there on Windows 7. Access it in Accessories and then pin it to Start or your Taskbar for easy access.

Re: compatibility view
I have cleaned out my cookies. this is the site that I am trying to print out a crossword puzzle (sorry, I said jigsaw before) http://puzzles.about.com/library/featur ... lprind.htm
when I click on the puzzle of the day, it just shows nothing. but, the puzzles showed up last week. I am too stupid to do the snipping tool. I was wondering if my internet security settings were too low or something and that is why I couldn't see the puzzle. and wondering about that compatibility view. right now it isn't checked..... is that okay? or should it have a check mark in front of it?

Re: compatibility view
Guess what! I don't see anything either... obviously there is a problem with the website, not with your browser. I tried Firefox, IE and Chrome.
And if you can drag a box around something on your screen, you can use the snipping tool! It's easier than most casual game puzzles. Open snipping tool, click on new, drag a box and select Save. The "snip" is automatically saved in your Pictures folder. Voila!
