I just started the Last Crown: Midnight Horror. I think it's a short game, but since it's set on Halloweeen, should be appropriate.

I can't remember, LadyK... do you use WASD to move your character or are they point and click?

The first 3 games in the series are point and click. I haven't played the others.

I don't enjoy having to use the keyboard to navigate in a game because I'm always looking down and missing the action on the screen.

I thought they were, but I couldn't remember for sure. I've been using WASD for movement along with the mouse for camera angle, it's second nature! Even more so than point and click...

All 5 in the "series" are point-and-click.
Here is a list with the approximate year of publication:

1. Dracula: Resurrection (2000)
2. Dracula: The Last Sanctuary (2001)
3. Dracula: The Path of the Dragon (2008)
4. Dracula: The Shadow of the Dragon (2013)
5. Dracula: The Blood Legacy (2013)

Dracula 4 and 5, which have less of an adventure-game-like feel than the previous games in the "series," are like Parts 1 and 2 of the same game and are often sold together, as at GOG
https://www.gog.com/game/dracula_4_5

Unlike the first three Dracula games, you play as a woman in Dracula 4 and 5.
Dracula 4 and 5 were published by a company named "Microids" but were developed by Koalalabs.
I would not say Dracula 4 and 5 were bad, and if you want a more casual or "easier" game to play, they may be just what you'd want.
But they don't really seem like part of the same "series" as Dracula 1, 2, and 3.
Part of that is because you're playing as the woman you've never seen before in the previous games.

Dracula 3 was made by Kheops Studios.
It is the longest one and IMO the most difficult as well as the spookiest.
Even with a walkthrough I had difficulties with some of the challenges.
If you want something really long and immersive, and especially creepy, Dracula 3 is the one I'd recommend.

There are other games featuring Dracula, including a DOS game named Dracula Unleashed which is a type of interactive fiction. It had a high resolution version which could be played on your TV using your TV remote control. Even with the DOS version, which allowed for some use of the mouse, I didn't care for the controls at all.

Another Dracula game is the humorous cartoony game Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back (1997).

My favorite is probably the Frogwares release, Dracula Origin (2008), which has many puzzles of a type I enjoy. It also has the best-looking Dracula (IMO).

As a followup/sequel to Dracula Origin, Frogwares released the casual game Dracula: Love Kills, where Dracula and Van Helsing work together to defeat a common foe. This game is sort of humorous or "camp" with puzzles being similar to those in Dracula Origin though easier. Igor is in this game, and I thought he was really funny. I wouldn't say this game is scary for Halloween.

My favorites are Dracula: Resurrection (the first Dracula game I played, way back around year 2000) and Dracula Origin, with Dracula: Love Kills if I'm in the mood for a casual game.

For me it depends on the game.
Usually inventory management is better with mouse control, but not all games are heavy on inventory management.
Eventually I'm able to "go by feel" with keyboard navigation controls when I play a keyboard-controlled game, so I don't have to be looking down at the keyboard all the time.

An excellent choice.
Yes it is a short game, one of those shorter games created by Jon Boakes to tide people over until he can finish his longer projects.

Ghost Vigil would be another good Halloween choice, if you haven't played it yet.

I'm looking forward to this one, which takes place on a seaside pier, though I don't think it will be finished for a while.

I have Ghost Vigil downloaded as well. So that is on the agenda.

Speaking of Halloween, my town has decided to allow kids to go out trick or treating on Saturday. I'm not happy about it because our large neighboring town won't be having it, so that means more kids will come here instead. I'm also not looking forward to wearing a mask for 5 hours in order to open the door to various creatures crowded on my front porch.

However, I think I've found a solution. I've decided to take out the screen in my front window, decorate a long mailing tube I have, and dispense candy through the tube. That way I can keep my distance and the kids can get their treats. I'll just set up my computer in the front room so I can play board games or solitaire between visits.

Excellent solution! I've seen a couple of videos of people setting up something similar.

I think I'll dress up the tube as a monster of some kind. I'll see what I can scavenge in my craft room.

I started playing Goetia tonight. It's very atmospheric but rather sneaky because items are hidden behind other items, which you don't always notice at first. I haven't been able to get through any of the sigils yet, but I have opened the secret room by the kitchen. The map is good to have as is the hotspot revealer. For a side-scroller, it's a very detailed and good-looking game, and I like the music.

What confused me as a side scroller were the many, many places you could go! I would forget where I was sometimes!

I am loving the puzzles in Goetia. Last night I made it through the forest, and tonight I finally put all the clues together in and around the church. It is so neat how new areas open up when a puzzle is solved. My drawings look like chicken scratch, but at least I had that clever device to make them legible.

I remember loving the puzzles too. There are some excellent ones down in the kitchen! So many places to explore.

Uh-oh. I added spoiler tags to my last post, but they don't seem to work. I'll have to edit it so I don't spoil things for someone who hasn't played it yet.

I got stuck in the house in Goetia... I wasn't really getting it. I'll hopefully go back to it at some point.
