Yippee! Had a couple of quiet hours this afternoon and I finished Shivers! What fun... I couldn't remember the ending at all so I wonder if I never finished it way back when.

As much as I love the puzzles in Shivers, I quit playing because I don't like having to worry about dying. I kill off Nancy Drew a lot when I play, but at least I get the second chance.

Are you sure you're talking about Shivers? You don't die in this game.

I remember having to take lots of notes of where the pots and the lids were located because if you let one of the spirits get you, they hide the pot and the lid in a different place. I also remember much walking. There is something about that game that is unique and special and still one of my most favorite games of all time!

Don't you lose part of your life force if one of the spirits get you?

I don't believe so. You have to find all the pots and their lids but can only carry so many in inventory. So some that you find you have to leave in a room and come back for, this is why you have to take notes. But if the spirit gets you, it will move the pot or lid in that room somewhere else and you'll have to go look for it in other rooms. I recall a sound that the spirit makes so if you hear it you can back away so that it doesn't get you but you have to be fast.

Its really a great game. If you never have played it you are missing out.

I started playing it and got surprised by a spirit and did lose some of my life force. The Sierra walkthrough even says "if you die or have to restart..."

Yes, you lose some of your life force if one of the Ixupi gets you. In the beginning, you have no choice as you are crossing the underground lake and the water Ixupi gets you. But you are always warned when there is one near with sounds and music and I avoided them the entire game. You would have to be attacked by every Ixupi to die and they are very easy to avoid. As soon as you capture one, if you DID lose some life force from that one, it is restored.

I printed out a "matrix" from a walkthrough that really helped me keep track of where the pots and lids were and where I left them. You can only carry one pot or one lid at a time, so it really helped.

Ok so that's probably why I didn't remember the life force element. It probably was not a factor for me at the time.

I can't remember where I got it from! Luckily there was something at the bottom of the page that told me.

I mostly used the walkthrough at Gameboomers.

Thanks, Drac. I will likely go back to this game at some point. I'll need to grab my game save from my Windows 7 laptop which is where I started the game downloaded from GOG.

Wow! Downloaded the game from GOG on my Windows 10 and the saves are already there!

Wow! Guess you used GOG Galaxy then... it syncs with the GOG cloud. Awesome!

I didn't either until I started my game which I had downloaded to my old Windows 10 drive. When I downloaded it to my new SSD drive, there were all my saves!
