What Adventure Game Are You Playing
Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
I have restarted Broken Sword 5. Nothing else was really grabbing me.

Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
Currently playing two adventures. On the switch the Phoenix Wright HD Trilogy. Love those games on the (3)DS but on the big screen it looks absolutely amazing. The music in court is fantastic. Really love these games, for some reason I keep buying them. Only the language barrier keeps me from buying the original GBA ones. Hmm, maybe I'll start learing Japanese ;).
And just bought Return of the Phantom on GOG. Never heard of it, but I love adventures and I love Paris, so sounds like a match made in heaven. Hope to try it out this weekend.

Oh, let us know how you like Phantom! I've been tempted to get it in this sale.

Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
I am interested in Phantom too. I had the original but I could never get it to play on my Window 98. And boy I sure tried really hard.

Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
It works great on GOG (using Windows 10). I never heard of it before but really like it. I love Paris, the city means a lot to me. I love the mystery element, voice are great, I think I spotted some FMV in the intro and the walking and movement animation of the characters is really smooth. Looks great. But jeez do they walk extremely slow.
Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
Ok, good to know. How do the graphics look? That game is really old.

Hold up pretty well I think. Pixel art in general tends to still look great these days. But still, it's a 27 year old game. I'm really surprised by the walking animations and movements of the characters. So smooth.
Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
I'll wait for your final review before I buy.

Did not like Heavens Vault! Hated the speech bubbles continuing to interfere with the scene and disliked the inter-travel from one place to another all the while trying to read the speech bubbles at the same time as negotiating the transport thingy. Hey, kudos to the creators and I must be in the minority as it has won many awards. Apart from the bubble annoyance, I think it would have been fun as I was already writing down copious notes and trying to work out the new language symbols.
So I went back to an old favorite - The Book of Unwritten Tales!! At least this was purchased knowing that I would enjoy it thoroughly and not waste precious SA Rands! Ah what a super long and enjoyable game! As good as I remembered it and I am having a ball. ♥

I dearly loved BOUT. I decided to give good old Shivers 1 a play. It's been years and GOG finally released it packaged in Scumm VM so it will play on Windows 10.

Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
Good to know, Val. It was on my list of games that I am considering on buying.
Drac, thanks for the tip. One of my all time favorites. I am going to purchase this one.

I also loved Book of Unwritten Tales and it's sequels. I am really sad that the story won't be finished.
I am struggling on with Broken Sword 5, but it's not giving me the feels...

Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
I started a game last night on my iPad, Whispers of a Machine. It must be available cross platform, because it sure plays like an old-school PC game. I’m about halfway through. It’s a police procedural set in the future. I, as the policewoman, have some enhancements that add a nice twist to the gameplay. It’s fun, but there have been a couple of pretty obscure puzzles that I would’ve never solved without a walkthrough. Just like in the golden age of adventure games

Played that one during lockdown Jen! Super game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Graphics and storyline good and very reminiscent of the adventure games of old.

We are going to be playing Book of Unwritten Tales as a group play over on the Senscape Discord from next week.
