Dog Food

Post by Stella »

Has anyone heard of American Journey dog food? I need to change my dogs diet, all of a sudden we seem to be haveing tummy issues. Should I skip hard food in favor of canned food? Chewey has American Journey on sale and lots of people seem to like it. Was thinking about chicken and sweet potato, because Bernie wiggles when I mention that kind! :grommit:

I would ask your vet before you switch foods. There may be an underlying reason for tummy issues. Sometimes switching can cause even more problems.

My dogs have tummy issues - but, mostly because they are grossly overweight. I have just decided that I am going to switch to a diet dog food for them. but, my old blind dog I will still give the canned dog food to, as he has almost no teeth and just to get him to find his food is a challenge. Let us know how it turns out with the new food!

I need to talk to my vet about changing my Bloodhound's food. She has gained WAY too much weight this winter even though I only feed her what - in her opinion anyway - are starvation rations of Purina Dog Chow! But being such a huge dog, extra weight will shorten her life significantly, so I've got to do something.

And of course, stay away from Ol' Roy which is at Wal Mart. It is like feeding them sawdust... just awful stuff. My friend who is a vet tech said they could see an Ol' Roy dog come into the clinic from a mile away.

I had American Journey dry cat food a couple times, and my kitty liked it fine. She likes Purina One the best, though.

Thanks, American Journey has to be ordered, and after recieving my December elecrric bill yesterday, along with a lost water bill, I think I'll get something I can buy local. Went to the Vet, he say's Bernie looks healthy enough, maybe just add some water to his food to soften it up.
