Hurrah for Science!

Post by draclvr »

I made appointments for me and hubby to get our first round of the corona virus vaccine on Tuesday! Initially, we weren't going to get them because there was so much politics being forced into the process. But I did a lot of research on the mRNA technology and it is absolutely sound. One of the reasons, it all happened so quickly is that this technology has been thoroughly researched for vaccines for at least 10 years, but had just never been used.

Now we find out the reserves the government said were there and going to be released don't exist. I hope and pray Biden gets the production ramped up so we can get our second doses in a month.

I am hoping that by summer we can have a small BBQ outside and invite my son, DIL and granddaughter over! They live 15 minutes away and we haven't seen them for a little over a year!

My sister and I are eligible for the vaccine, but the supply is dwindling fast here. I'm going to see if I can get on the list for an appointment, even if it doesn't come for a month or two.

When I got the email that I could make appointments, I went to the website within 20 minutes of the email being sent. A lot of the appointment slots were already filling up, so I grabbed the two earliest ones available.

Jen, we are both in the "old people" category, but we both also have a history of blood clots and I've had two PEs, are in a high risk category for severe COVID.

My mom is in her 80s, and she won’t be able to get a shot here until February 1 at the earliest. She will be in the first group outside of the essential workers and long-term care facility residents. Your state is probably more organized with the distribution.

Missouri? Organized? HAH! That would be a first! Perhaps a smaller population? I don't know, but I'll take it!

They don't have the vaccine doses they were promised here so the county health department had to cancel a couple of events. I'm in category 1c (65 and older). As soon as I can get an appointment I will. I can wait though. I have no problems continuing with my current regimen. Others need it more.

That's the way I felt too. I can wait until the health care workers and others get theirs first.

I got my second shot today. I work in a hospital though so in that aspect I am fortunate. I am thinking once Trump is out of office things will start picking up since he is not doing a thing to help this covid process move along.

YAY for you! I will be curious if you have side effects after the second dose. My god-daughter was fine after the first, but had extreme fatigue for about 24 hours after the second dose.

After they said this week that the stock-pile the administration claimed they had really doesn't exist, I was fearful there wouldn't be anything for the second doses. Out only hope is Biden making the production and distribution of the vaccines a priority. I sure hope you're right about things picking up once Trump is gone.

It’s been 7 hours since the shot and I have a whooper headache and fatigue. The first shot, just fatigue.

Just wondering how you're feeling today, Ghostlady. We're heading over to the town 10 miles away where the vaccine clinic is set up in the hospital there shortly.

Got in line, took about 5 minutes to get to one of the registration people, 60 seconds later got our shots and then they had us sit in a designated area for 15 minutes to make sure you didn't have any adverse effects. DONE! One down and appointments for the second one of February 8th.
