It's Friday

Post by Ghostlady »

I am so happy it is Friday. It's been a loooong 2 weeks for me. Lots and lots of long days at the office, even cutting into my evenings. All I want to do is play a game. I am in the middle of Secrets of Atlantis. It's calling to me. So I hope tonight is the night.

I remember when I was working how it just seemed like someone had shoved a couple extra days into the week and Friday would never get there. Now that I'm retired, I can't keep track of what day of the week it is. One day is like another. Still, I've been conditioned to recognize Friday as a special day of the week. Enjoy your gaming, GL!

That made me laugh, JK! Even after being retired for over 11 years, I am still programmed to look at Friday as a special day of the week too!

Glad your very looooong week is over, GL and hope you get some good gaming in!

I hope you can relax and enjoy the whole weekend, GL. I still get antsy on Sunday's because that's when I planned lessons for my speech students and wrote reports for upcoming meetings with parents and the child study team. Friday nights and sometimes Saturday mornings were for game-playing.

I am happy to hear that "Friday" still sticks out as a special day. LK, I can understand about your Sunday. I deal with that same issue on Sunday evening, thinking about work the next day.

Weekends were always too short when I was working.

It’s Friday all over again and I’m off work all next week, woo hoo! I’m going to try to put new finish on my hardware floors, but that sounds completely unfun. It would be nice to have it done though.

Glad to hear you got those floors done. Did you do your whole house or a room?

I did dining, living, hall, and one of two bedrooms. The rest of the floors have linoleum, and the second bedroom is my big closet so I’m saving it for last. Or never. It’s pretty bad, though, so I expect I’ll do it eventually.

Nothing looks better than newly refinished hardwood floors! Are they oak? I just finished having new composite floors done on my steps and in the upstairs. The original flooring is over 100 years old and is very soft heart pine. They are beautiful, but just can't stand up to wear and tear at all. I even have tongue and groove heart pine ceilings in my kitchen, living and dining rooms downstairs!

Yes, red oak. My house is about 50 years old. I just moved in last February, and it had nasty carpet. I pulled it up before I even moved in. The hardwood floor had never been refinished, and somebody was sloppy with paint at one time, big splats and footprints all over, and there were a million staple and nail holes and some inexplicable big gouges. I filled and sanded and now just have to put on the finish, two coats with a cat in the way 😛 I did my bedroom closet a while ago, and it’s beautiful. I only wish my whole floor would get like that with no further effort on my part!

I refinished hardwood floors before and I vowed I'd never do it again. Beautiful floors but it's hard work. Now I would pay someone to do it.

I've been seriously thinking about a vacation your way after we are back to normal again. :)
