Cat duties, Scanning, Easter Eggs and Hard Gaming

Post by Ghostlady »

I haven't shared too much lately for a couple of reasons. We adopted Opie, our rescue cat (rough week), I've been scanning myself green in the face with the new Chapel ( https://mysterymanor.net/chapelNew.htm ), adding Easter Eggs to the Guest Room and I have been really stuck with the Nancy Drew game I am playing (but I've managed two good saves for the Attic). Hopefully I can end one or two of these items soon.

I've been tied up with closing up the gardens, but hope to get back to some intense scanning myself for the Chapel this weekend!

I made another 2 quarts of hot tomato juice yesterday but I think that will be it for the year. I just told hubby that we have to pull up the garden. that is always a sad day for me. I love my garden. I miss my hummingbirds and robins. well, I start counting the days until May now.

I've got a tray of Peter Peppers in the dehydrator right now which I will grind into a hot powder. SO much better than the cayenne powder you get at the store! That will be the last dehydrating of the year. Got a full quart of minced and dehydrated garlic plus a couple of pounds of fresh garlic bulbs. Will roast a bunch of those and freeze. Tons of salsa, pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, Bloody Mary mix and just juice canned. To top it all off we got half a hog from a local farmer last weekend. I don't think we're going to starve this winter!

Cleaned up the last hummingbird feeder yesterday. I sure miss their twittering outside my window by my computer. They were insane this year! I went through 150 pounds of sugar!

Guess it's time to hunker down in my PC corner and turn on the gas fireplace and do some gaming!

The rooms look great, GL! I should be able to help with some scanning after Halloween.

Between my dogs and the squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits plus shade from several mature oaks, a vegetable garden doesn't stand a chance in my back yard. All I have is a nice stand of hearty Autumn Joy sedum out back, which has bloomed nicely for years. I love the way it changes color as the months go by. Right now it's a deep brick red.

Sedum is one of my favorite plants!

I'll get out to trim the last of the rose bushes (two carpet roses and one knock out) on Friday. It's supposed to hit 78 here...then the temps plummet into the 40's and 50's. May mow the lawn one last time and put the mower up for the winter. Last year, I forgot to drain the gasoline, thinking I was still going to use it, and couldn't get it started this year. Had to take it in for service. Autumn is normally my favorite season but the days have been so gray over the last few weeks.

Did you get any of that dense fog last night, JK? Here in NJ we just got some drizzle.

We had much needed rain all night here in east central Missouri. There was accompanying lightning and thunder, so the smelly Bloodhound snored outside the bedroom door so loud I had to get up and close it!

It's a challenge to get up in the middle of the night to pee and have to watch where you step over the 100+ pound dog! She seldom even wakes up!

Here you go! Some a**hole dumped her out here in the winter and she spent 2 weeks trying to survive, even getting shot once for getting into trash. Then she found our barn and made a deep nest in the straw because it was like zero degrees out. She adopted us!
