Yes, I've been watching that track. It's good that Marco veered off to the east and is back to a tropical storm. Otherwise, it could have been a double whammy for the gulf coast. Let's hope you ride this one out as easily as the last one, GL.

A good friend in Lake Charles, LA is right in the path of Laura.

Let me explain the brisket. This is a Texas thing where they use any excuse to have a barbecue. After a hurricane has passed you go outside your home and look to see what damage has been done. Your are very likely to have no power and you probably can’t consume your water. Your power may be out for days, weeks or even months depending on where your live. You know you are going to lose all the meat in your freezer so you have an afterstorm barbecue. But a barbecue in Texas is not just a brisket, it’s also ribs and hamburgers and sausage and whatever else they can throw on the pit. You can walk up the street and you will see your neighbors in their yards barbecue’ing away. It becomes a big neighborhood smoke pit.

Just for information you’ll never use, HEB is a grocery store founded in Texas. The founder’s name is Howard E Butt. When I first moved here, I thought that was the funniest thing.

When I hit that link this morning I see they are now forecasting a category 3 hurricane heading for our area over to Lake Charles. This is not good.

Am currently backing up my whole hard drive on my computer (the whole Mystery Manor website included) and going to put that external hard drive in a plastic bag and it is going on a shelf close to the ceiling. This will probably hit us early Thursday morning. I am pretty sure I'll lose internet for quite awhile.

I am a little south of Houston, closer to the Gulf than Houston, but we are West of the storm. I think we are only going to get tropical storm effects as opposed to hurricane effects. Probably mostly wind.

Thank you Kickaha. This is going to be terrible for Louisiana and Texas in that corner. I think we’ll be fine where I am at.
