Happy 4th of July 2020!
Happy 4th of July to all my fellow Manorites! I know this year will be different with limited festivities in most locations. I'll watch the musical, Hamilton, this evening on Disney plus which I subscribed to for the month. No picnics to attend tomorrow, but I have a family birthday picnic/party to attend on Sunday. We'll be outdoors, socially distancing with mask usage as necessary. Since NY state has adopted all the safety precautions since the beginning, we're all feeling fairly confident, yet we'll remain cautious. Everyone is back to work now, so us retirees can't be too careful! In fact, my one nephew and his girlfriend both tested positive for the antibodies. They think they both had mild cases earlier this year.

Re: Happy 4th of July 2020!
I won't be doing anything special for the 4th except watching the NY entertainment and fireworks on channel 4 tomorrow night. I'm still limiting my contacts. I see my cousin every other week, but the usual hugs and long in-person chats have gone by the wayside.
I like the way Gov. Cuomo has handled the pandemic in NY. NYC is lagging behind, mainly because of the density, but things are reopening with restrictions. Here in NJ it's going fairly well, but there have been a few incidents of too-crowded beaches and bars and lack of masks that could turn around and bite some people.

Last night, we didn't attend the annual BBQ and fireworks at some friends' in town. Our county in Missouri is just blowing up again which was to be expected as our governor opened up way too soon with zero restrictions. This large group of friends also have not masked or socially distanced the whole time - they are younger in their 40's, so as much as we enjoy their company normally, we will not be socializing with them. I have missed them, but we are both over 70 and my lungs are compromised with some diffuse blood clots. So especially until those are resolved, we will be avoiding crowds of any kind. We watched the new movie, The Outpost, and Dave just went to bed! I listened to the booms from the towns around us while I was reading. Luckily Bella the Bloodhound didn't get too upset, as she's normally pretty gun-shy.

Re: Happy 4th of July 2020!
Last night we had massive fireworks going off in three different places in my neighborhood. We had the windows open, and the dogs decided to bark at every loud boom. Several times I nearly jumped out of my chair from either the booms or the barks. I was so happy when things settled down around midnight.

We had a lot of fireworks in the neighborhood, much more than usual. I was running between front and back windows to keep up. After watching the movie Flags of Our Fathers, I decided I needed something lighter so I watched The Music Man on TCM.
Today I drove to my nieces for a birthday party for my 12 year old nephew and my niece who was turning 40. It was outdoors and we sat a nice distance apart. We ditched our masks in the 90 degree heat. We've all been super careful all this time wearing masks and practicing social distancing. Those that work have only been back to work for two weeks as NY has been very careful about reopening. Masks and social distancing are mandatory where they all work.
