Password managers

Do any of you use password managers to keep your passwords organised? I use one called 1Password on the Mac and iPad, but haven’t felt yet like paying up each month to have the passwords stored in the cloud.

I use Roboform Everywhere. I think I pay $19.95 a year. I can use it across all my devices... all I have to do is install, log in and everything is there. I use it on my PC, my tablet and my phone.

I use the password manager that came with my Webroot security software.

I don't use a manager. Pencil and paper work for me.

What are the dangers of password managers getting hacked? I'd like to try one, but wonder what the risk is?

I suppose anything is possible. My password manager needs one master password to open it up to the rest. I'm guilty of not changing it often enough, but as with everything change the password often and keep it hard to decipher. I use words from the Norwegian language for mine.

Roboform will also generate passwords that are random letters and numbers and are very secure.

According to their website, they use this which I don't know what it means!

So, basically, you're only at risk from Norwegians. I've downloaded LastPass from the Firefox add-ons. It looks good but so far I haven't set it up. Apparently it also generates new passwords for users. I do think, however, that bank passwords had better stay right where they are!

Yup! Only Norwegians can get to me!! I agree with the bank and credit card passwords. I do not have them in the password manager.

For banks and credit cards, you also need to sign up for alerts. If any transaction occurs, per how you set it up, you get a notification. That way, all transactions are reported to you right away so you can take quick action if they are unauthorized by you.
