The Bad Rabbit ransomware infiltrated computers by posing as an Adobe Flash installer on compromised news and media websites. It serves as a reminder that people should never download apps or software from pop-up advertisements or websites that don't belong to the software company.

Just as a Malware Reminder
A new ransomware attack - dubbed Bad Rabbit - is hitting Eastern Europe and Russia, but has also been detected in the US. The attack poses as an Adobe Flash update popup on infected news and media websites. Even though it's not affecting most of us, it serves as a reminder to NEVER download software from a popup. Only download directly from the software company itself, in this case Adobe. A quote from one of the articles I read this morning.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you tomatoes, make Bloody Marys.

Thanks for the shout out Drac!!
Re: Just as a Malware Reminder
It appears to be targeting corporations and governments at this point, but the way these things sometimes morph, you never know. In any case, it's just a reminder about safe use of the internet!
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you tomatoes, make Bloody Marys.
Re: Just as a Malware Reminder
Yes the internet is really a cobweb of pitfalls. I am always conscious of the various 'downloads' available on all sites and they are placed strategically to confuse. Make doubly sure before you click !
