ok, it's the final run-up to my first holiday - I leave here on Monday 31st October - and yesterday I had my first holiday jobs, 3 in total - Week 1 Rabies, Week 1 MMR and one for typhoid/diptheria/polio. Only another 5 to go!
My Indian holiday does not start until 2nd November but Winter has stormed in here already with a vengeance, and we have already had days of ferries cancelled, even at this early stage of Winter, so I am going on the local ferry to town on the Monday and staying overnight, then I fly to Heathrow via Edinburgh on the Tuesday and overnight there, in readiness for my Wednesday departure when I meet up with my group - so yu can see that I am taking NO chances on this trip of having to miss the holiday due to bad weather!

Yes indeed - I leave Sanday exactly 3 weeks tomorrow.
My Doctor's Surgery has come up against a hitch - not one dose of Hepatitis A to be found in the whole of Scotland, and for me I think this is the most important jab of all. I spent the entire day on the phone on Friday just trying to track this down!

What?? If not in Scotland then surely to be found in the rest of GB! Had heard that the NHS was in dire straits but this is ridiculous! No I cannot believe that you are the only citizen of the United Kingdom planning a visit to India or wherever else the Hepatitis A injection is required. Surely your Doctor jests? And surely the onus should not be on you to phone around to find it?

Well, yes, it was indeed left to me to try and track this down. I have tried the whole of the UK but I have been told many times this injection has been in very short suppy for some time now. I did find a supply in Ireland but unfortunately it needs to be constantly refrigerated, so no go there either. I could get it done possibly at Heathrow Airport, but I am told it is advisable to have it done at least one week before travel! Onwards and upwards lol.

Whoop whoop - success at last. Boots the Chemist have just sent 3 of these injections to our local Branch in town, and they have promised to reserve one for me.
