Our Sanday Rangere, Emma, was travelling home on the ferry tonight from town, when she saw 4 Orcas, a bull, 2 females and a calf. Her partner posted on Facebook and I have never seen so many cars driving around the island all at once. We went to 3 different vantage points but sadly didnt manage to see them. Just got back home at 9.15 p.m. - time for a late dinner ha ha.

Oh yes, I am sure there will be, JK. We now have a wonderful Sanday Ranger who is passionate about her job, and works very hard, and so I am sure she will keep us well informed of any future sightings. This is one instance where Facebook is a wonderful "voice" at times like these.

I'm sure the orcas were watching from a vantage point and chuckling about the amount of human activity onshore. Lots of "heh, heh, heh, works every time. See how clever your daddy is making all those humanoids run about in inadequate clothing".

I think you could be right, Diat. We had the Sanday Ranger's fiance with us - he is a marine biologist - and even he didnt spot them!

Beautiful creatures indeed. Your island sounds like a beautiful paradise Boobie. Hubby is always talking about how he would love to move to Scotland, Ireland or England. Hubby's family are from Ireland so if we ever did decide to move there he can get duel citizenship automatically
