Oh, good... I had a feeling he would just fine with the reduced dose. I'm sure those massive doses were to counteract the drug in the initial phase of his poisoning.

I really feel so very very guilty at overdosing him for almost 4 years. I am intelligent, so why the heck did I not think to reduce this high dosage before now? I am very angry with myself!

It doesn't seem to have done any harm though, so I wouldn't beat myself up too much over it!

I have just heard back from the vet at the Small Animal Hospital, Glasgow, who treated Benji back in 2012. This is what she wrote.

"Dear Rozanne,

It is great to hear that you still have Benji; so lymphoma can definitely be ruled out!

There are only injectable veterinary preparations for Vitamin B12 and as you rightly conclude no oral preps. The dosing guidelines for dogs is 0.25-1mg/dog/day so I think giving half a tablet (0.5mg) of the supplement you have should be fine.

Best wishes

Kate"

So it looks as though I dont have to search around the world for his Vitamin B meds, but can switch to the new UK supply when my Kenyan stock runs out - Really good news.

It is , Val - I have been getting them from Kenya for the last 4 years but I dont like to keep asking people to bring them back in their luggage. I am sure this new supply will work just as well. I dont know if its the brain damage, but facially Benji is looking quite old - he is only 9, which is quite young for a Jack Russell.
