Blood transfusion is the next mechanism for possible transmission. The US is already recommending self deferral for blood donors for 28 days who have traveled to Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. That will change if there is any local transmission in the US. Of course, there is already deferral from such regions due to malaria, dengue and chickungunya.

I think the problems of Zika extend far beyond that of Ebola, Val - Ebola can be more or less "contained", albeit with a lot of effort, but in my opinion I dont think this can. And is it true that it stays in you forever?
I agree with you Drac - like in Africa, the women have NO rights, and least of all over their own bodies - it's very very sad - as if these poor women dont have enough to contend with already.
