That woke the dogs up!
Earlier today we all heard a loud noise and the dogs went berserk. Ran outside and it was a Chinook helicopter so low and close to my house that I really thought it was going to land in my field. I am very used to helicopters flying over my house but not one this size. A helicopter ride has always been on my bucket list, but since I came to live on Sanday, I no longer want to ride in one lol!

I would assume it was on Army exercise. In the Summer the RAF use our islands to fly over frequently on exercise, Drac. Gave me a bit of a scare just for a moment though!

Chinooks are the heavy lifters of helicopters. They're used for artillery placement, troop movement, and resupply - real workhorses. My husband, a Vietnam vet, spoke fondly of them. We also got a kick out of seeing one in a video sent home by his sister who served in Desert Storm. It was in the background and flying low with a big hunk of machinery hanging down.
I’m more confused than a chameleon in a bagful of Skittles.
