New Years Eve and New Years Day

What are you doing for New Years Eve? Going out or staying home? Having a special meal or just snacking? Personally, I'd just as soon stay home tonight, but I'm providing the meat for sandwiches for the New Years celebration at our American Legion Post.

I'm putting 4 chuck roasts into my big roaster with a bunch of chopped onions and some seasonings and braising for several hours. Then I run it through my food processor. Makes a mighty good sandwich at about half the price as if we had a local caterer make it!

Then I'm making a huge roaster of ham and beans for New Years Day up there. I'm also making a big pot of Texas Style Black Eyed Peas for luck in the new year. Melia gave me the recipe many years ago and I am requested to make it every year.

Ah Drac! Do you ever stop? I am staying put at home this evening. It is now nearly 6pm and the sun will only go down around 7.30 - time for supper. Thereafter will watch tv and hopefully stay awake in time to watch the celebrations in Australia!

But just maybe I may spend some time playing my gorgeous game. I am playing Anna's Quest and am totally loving it. It might just keep me going until midnight our time?

A friend of ours turns 60 today and is throwing himself a birthday party. My sister and I will be going there around dinner time, but I'll be home well before midnight. Tomorrow I might take my sister to see the Peanuts movie.

It will just be Mom and I for both days. Tonight will graze on deep dish pizza and hot sandwiches. We're watching college football games. We'll toast the New Year with Baileys Irish Creme. Then tomorrow I will make us a meal of prime rib (my first time preparing it). Normally, my "good luck" dinner is pork and sauerkraut, but that has become rather common for a Sunday dinner, so the prime rib will be special.

Oooo.... I have a really good recipe for prime rib that involves maple syrup, Montreal seasoning and coarse mustard! I'm making our prime rib tomorrow. I cooked all day today for others - tomorrow is for us!

And a happy 2016 from me as well! Saw the New Year in with my wife's relatives, played this quiz based on what was 'popular' in 2016 that I scored 0 on - household names I've never heard of. Judging by what was said about the people I've never heard of I'm perfectly happy not to have heard of them.

Well...our 2016 was greeted with 5 inches of snow! Considering we had virtually none the entire month of December...and experiencing Snowmaggedon last November, I will take this!
