The Voynich Manuscript

Post by StarLite »

I must have watched about 4 videos on this subject and I've got to say, very interesting. They tested some samples of the paper and paint used in the manuscript and found it to may have been created in 1428. It's amazing when you think of all the mysteries in the world that we'll never know the answers to. Do I see a game there. Here's a link to the documentary if anyone is interested :flower:

It looks interesting, Starlite, and I'm downloading the first episode now. Do you know what program this was shown on? can't find any reference on IMDB to it at all.

I watched the first episode, and it is truly intriguing. I will view the rest soon.

The opening is irritating, though, with it's "Men have always" sexist language. Women are and have been some of the best code creators/breakers. It really pisses me off when men use "men" when referring to the accomplishments of humans, but say "people" or use a name that denotes a whole area or group when referring to men's atrocities (even when it's obviously men who are doing them, like serial rapists), or worse yet, act like the atrocities happened out of thin air or that the female victims were somehow responsible for them.

Rant over.

Back to the scheduled programming. ;)

A little off topic I think, but could you take this rant over to Hot Topics. I thought people (men and women) would enjoy this documentary. If it bothers you that much then write to the Discovery channel or whoever made the video. The opening remark went over my head, I'm not to neuter all the men on the planet.

I've mulled this over a bit and I have to agree with Starlite here. I've gone off on the same rant, Jude! It gets so frustrating sometimes. But, it still belonged over in Hot Topics more than in this thread that Starlite only hoped would point us to something interesting.

Still, for those of us like Starlite and me who have wonderful husbands and me who has two wonderful sons, a comment like the one at the beginning of this video has to be taken with a bit of perspective.
