Cirque du Soleil

Post by Diat60 »

We've just come back from a family outing for my daughter's birthday to Cirque du Soleil. I know many will disagree but I'm thankful that this was my first and last visit to Cirque. I found most parts to be colorful and boring at the same time, which is not easy to do! Lots and lots of tumbling and acrobatics, which gets old after a short while, and not nearly enough trapeze work (although what there was was spectacular in parts). Very loud discordant music and I haven't a clue what language they were using, it sure wasn't English or French. Apparently it was supposed to be the story of Icarus and there was lots of waving around of a pair of white wings but after that none of us had a clue. There were seven of us who went and we took a quick poll afterwards and we all agreed that once was enough.

It's the changing times Diat, nothing's the same as it used to be. Movies, music and tv shows have changed, people have changed. I used to love Cirque's music it was always relaxing. Too bad you didn't enjoy your night out. :flower:

I've never had a real desire to see Cirque - it always seemed like a lot of glitzy and pageantry. Your experience sort of confirms my impressions from what little I've seen of it on TV.

They have quite a few troupes with different themes. It's a shame it wasn't one you liked.

A long time ago now I saw a Cirque du Soleil show at Disneyworld in Florida (La Nouba?). I was impressed by some of what I saw, but in that modernisation of circus for our jaded times something else had been lost.

Sorry you were disappointed Diat.
