Loving The K-cup....

Post by StarLite »

Maybe a little too much. I love this K-cup machine. Hubby bought me Caramel Drizzle coffee yesterday. I hope it's not too sweet. He bought some blanks so we can use our own blend of coffee. I'm looking for a foam powder like the pack that came with the Latte. I have a can of Van Houtte's Hazelnut and would love to put some foam to it.

I have to be careful though, when I find something I like I'm a total glutton, which is bad in this case because that can only lead to major weight gain. That's ok, I got the treadmill. With that said I'm off to get me a cup. Have one with me everyone :flower:

I have a 12-cup Presto electric percolator and usually make 8 cups (4 big mugs) in the morning. If I know I'll be going out early or if I want a flavored coffee, I use my small 4-cup drip coffeemaker. I did have a K-cup machine and found it very convenient, but I decided that I didn't like generating the waste from all those plastic cups.

You mean Keurig! Sorry, I was thinking of something else measured in cup sizes. My bad.

K-cup - dang, that WOULD be big! I like about 4 cups of very good, black coffee in the morning. My daughter-in-law and my step-daughter both have one of these K-Cup machines and they absolutely love them. Very convenient for busy mornings...

I love very good black coffee in the mornings too, Drac! I buy the beans and grind them myself and then use my coffee machine. One mug is normally enough for me though. :) I used to prefer a dark roast but I find these days I am preferring a medium roast. Some of the African coffees are really good. I am not keen on flavoured coffee nor, indeed, any coffee with milk in. Black filter or expresso!

We are "birds of a feather," Val! My favorite right now is a coffee from Costa Rica. I absolutely love the smell or freshly ground coffee beans!

Drac - I reckon that smell beats even the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Give me a kick start with a smile every morning! :) Have tried the Costa Rica and love it! Actually have a bag in my cupboard for my next brew. At the moment I am almost finished a bag of Ethiopian which isn't half bad! Like Columbian too, but if I had to choose to support an economy, however small, then it has to be Ethiopia!! :) It goes off the shelves here pretty quickly so sample others - that is half the fun of brewing coffee. LOL!

Actually the K-cups here are recyclable, plastic part goes in the plastic bin the top goes in the paper bin. We also have reusables we make our own then clean it out and reuse. It's ideal for us because we don't drink much coffee, I may have a cup, two or three times a week, hubby has one a day. We have to be careful because hubby is diabetic and I have an under active thyroid.

When we used the French press hubby was getting too much sugar because we'd use 27 ozs of water and I would have a 10 oz cup and he would have the rest with two teaspoons of sugar, that's way too much for him. So the K-cup is more for us. I tried the Caramel Drizzle, don't mind it but don't like it as much as the French Vanilla.

We grind our own beans too, it's a lot cheaper buying bulk beans than a pack of those little cups. It's also cheaper because when I don't feel like coffee hubby is forced to buy his own from the coffee shop which costs $2.00 a cup. So yes I believe this is a good purchase. If anyone is interested I found this recipe for making your own foam, haven't tried it yet so can't swear by it. Now you got my taste buds going, have a cup on me folks and enjoy your day :flower:

I like my coffee strong, too, with just a little milk. I usually use Folger's or Chock Full o' Nuts, but the best coffee I ever had was Hawaiian kona beans that I ground myself. It was heaven but at a very heavenly price.

Yup, me too - great coffee, wine and cheese and I'm in heaven! Of course, incredible tomatoes are just around the corner!

Drac our tomatoes are not so great here. Watery and tasteless mainly, but there are some stores selling tomatoes on the vine which aren't too bad. And they seem to last longer too. Then, again, at a price! :)

Goodness, with your climate, I'd think great tomatoes could be grown there. Watery and tasteless sounds like a variety that isn't very good. I try at least a couple of new ones every year. Some are great and some not so great and I don't grow them again.

Well I think in this case the best go for export! The grapes are good though so the wine makes up for the tomatoes!! :)
