Netflix opinions?

Post by Kickaha »

I'm considering subscribing to Netflix - any advice? comments? I think the choice in the States is better than the UK.

If you subscribe to the UK service and then use a VPN like https://www.unblock-us.com/ once set up you can watch any of the netflix libraries in the world.

I usually watch the US one over the UK as it has better TV coverage.

We have the Canadian Netflix, courtesy of my lovely grandson, and while it's not as comprehensive as the American version, it's still pretty good with loads of choice both in movies and tv shows. Best thing would be to check what's available on the UK version (I think you can get a free trial) and see if it suits.

My son who lives in Denver uses Netflix and they absolutely love it. They got rid of their cable service and only have a good internet subscription.

We had Netflix till we ran out of things to watch. We watched Dark Skies and Star Trek Into The Darkness and was very happy with that, but we found that once we watched everything there was nothing left. We preferred the UK Netflix, we like UK content better than here. The first season of Hemlock Grove wasn't too bad. They also make their own shows like Hemlock Grove and they coming out with new shows all the time. I guess it's all in what you are looking for and if what you pay a month is worth what you are getting. I think they have a free trial you can check out :flower:

Thanks StarLite - yes, we've gone for the free trial. Worth using I think until you've seen all there is to see.

we got the free netflix and never used it for the first 2 years. I considered getting rid of it numerous times. but, with babysitting for the grandkids so much, I found that they love to watch netflix with all the kid's shows and cartoons. I started watching the tv series. I have watched Frazier, How I met your Mother, Melissa and Joey, Everybody loves Raymond, Rules of Engagement, well, lots of tv series. I love it that there are no commercials. so, if you are just thinking of watching movies, I think you can run through them pretty fast, but, if you enjoy tv series, you have lots to watch. If you babysit a lot, the kids really like it. They have cartoons and general teenage stuff that my grand daughter loves.

We like being able to batch watch TV series with no commercials. Also, it's easier to follow the plots and characters without that week in between. No "who's that?" "what happened there?" etc. We're definitely getting older!

I've started watching Korean TV series - but I'm not expecting Netflix to carry many of those.

Without adverts is definitely better!

I have a contract with UnoTelly UK package where I can watch all the BBC programmes, except for live sport. I prefer to watch programmes the following day as the streaming is better than live and I can choose what to watch. Must have my daily dose of Eastenders!!! :) Unotelly is linked to many tv channels but I prefer the BBC. Plus I have a Raspberry Pi connected to my tv set in the lounge which means I don't need to watch on the computer screen. UnoTelly is pretty cheap for us South Africans as it works out to R50 odd per month.
