I know .......... I am not at all happy with the situation - This piece that broke off was most definitely my tooth, and no cement work.
But we have no dentists in Orkney who can do this sort of work - Lets wait till Friday and see what happens lol ..........

Yeah, I agree... It's not like you have a lot of options. But it still won't hurt to ask some questions. It's your teeth and your money after all!

And it's real BIG money - that's what really annoys me! And this guy STILL wants to give me implants, despite my teeth crumbling lol!

Well, that's usually the reason they want to do implants. That's why they did Dave's implant... his teeth weren't strong enough to support a bridge. So they did the one implant to support the bridge and that's been great for at least 8 years now.

I agree with Drac, Rosy. Implants evolved to provide anchors for teeth when they can't support themselves and the surrounding teeth won't provide a solution. Yes...they are expensive, but not that much more than a bridge.

Pay for your travel, eh? Ask him if it's ok to go via Hawaii.

How did it go? My mother had 2 broken teeth on the bottom that he was going to put crowns on - and unbeknownst to me he did a root canal on both of them before he is doing the crowns. My mother has been downing pain killers for the past 2 days and also had a fever. I called the dentist 3 times yesterday to find out what to do but he must have been golfing as I wasn't given any advice until this morning. Thankfully though mother said that she didn't need a pain killer this morning and she didn't have a fever so possibly she is on the road to recovery - until May 7 when she has to go back in for the crowns.

Re: Feeling very sorry for myself lol!
Right, well when I got off the ferry on Friday lunchtime, my mobile said that I had missed a call - unfortunately there is no signal on the ferry - so when I arrived at the dentist, I asked the receptionist why she had been calling me. She told me it was because the bridge had not arrived, and it was to tell me not to bother to come into town today duh! And then she said but the good news is that the bridge did indeed arrive half an hour ago. And I said - so what is the bad news? She said the bad news is that they sent you the wrong bridge. I ordered a porcelain bridge and they had sent one with metal in it. I tell you, I get no luck!
Anyway the first half hour of the appointment was taken up in finishing off the root canal, which seemed to go ok. And the second half hour was taken up with removing the temporary bridge, building up the newly wrecked tooth, and inserting once again yet another "temporary bridge". So now I have to go back yet again to have the proper bridge fitted, whenever it arrives lol, she says, banging her head against the wall.
At the end of the appointment the dentist handed me a mirror for me to admire his handiwork, I suppose, but I just brushed the mirror aside, and said I would look at it when I got home lol. For me, even an hour in the dentists chair is far too long IMO.
But I have to say when I got home, I really was quite impressed with the bridge............ although I wont be telling him that. Oh, and they reimbursed me not only for the travel expenses last week, but also for the Friday one. I just took it and said ok

Well, that was damned decent of them... But I really think you had it coming and obviously so did they. At least it sounds like you are coming along, albeit slowly but surely!

It does indeed feel very strange to have teeth where I have had a large gap for many years - It does take some getting used to!
