So what are you up to today
What Is On Your Agenda Today
What Is On Your Agenda Today
I'm curious as to how people spend their days, especially retirees. Today it is very dark and dreary here and calling for rain, since I did the treadmill yesterday I have the day off, so I will spend some of it till I get sick of sitting working on my game. I'm hoping to get it finished this year if all goes well.

Re: What Is On Your Agenda Today
I always like to say I do what I want WHEN I want! I do have commitments though... yesterday I cleaned stalls and dumped wheelbarrows full of sawdust in the clean stalls for 5 hours down at Longmeadow. In the afternoon, I went in town and cooked burgers and grilled chicken for 3 hours for sandwiches we serve at our American Legion Post.
Today, I'm taking it a little bit easy, but this afternoon I have to go in town to help an elderly friend with his email and tonight I have my bowling league. Tomorrow I will have to start transplanting all my hundreds of tomato and pepper seedlings into individual pots to continue growing under the grow lights.
I will be working at least 2 or 3 more days a week down at Longmeadow for the next couple of months as this is when we starting getting all kinds of school field trips and tours. We have our huge Spring Fling fundraiser on April 18th when we've had over 700 people down there. I will be heading the "gate crew" where we stop cars and take the entry fee and direct people where to go to park and register.
Sunday I'm tending bar for our American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Spring Fling.
As you can see, I seldom have time to get bored! I do still get in a minimum of 2 hours of reading every night though - my #1 favorite thing since retiring!

I am being lazy today. well, I think I am lazy every day -especially compared to Drac! I took my mother to the hairdresser for a wash and set and while she was getting that done I did some grocery shopping and drug store pickups. It is raining here and so will probably work on a jigsaw puzzle with mother. I tried to play a computer game, Broken Age for a little while this morning but it is hard to get into it good when I am leaving to check on mother all the time. I should vacuum, I should mop my floors, and i should wash the sheets. but, I'm not.

Well, I have dubbed myself Mrs Lazy lol - I have decided that I am NOT a domestic goddess, nor do I want to be. I am always behind in my cleaning, and so I made a decision last week to employ a cleaner. I only wish I had done this before now. She and I are steadily going through the house and "deep cleaning" it, and then I will hand it all over to her. Now I can get on with my gardening, paperwork and other DIY projects that I have shelved for the past 3 years, plus taking my dogs on LONG walks instead of short ones.

Oh, you are a woman after my own heart, Rosaboobie! I just barely keep up with my domestic duties. I always say I'm so grateful for the Germans coming every summer for 3 weeks because I actually have to CLEAN!

It's financial year end at my work, therfore it's the busiest period of my year.
So it's basically get to work about 8, work until 7-ish, get home and make dinner. Do a bit of web surfing and then hit the sack.
Rinse and repeat for the next 3 weeks.

Lol my friend Kath is totally appalled that I have done this, but she will NOT make me feel guilty - Why should I do the cleaning if I dont have to? I have got to the stage in my life that I do what I want to do, and nothing more.

I don't envy you for the next few weeks, Lucien21!
Don't you DARE let her make you feel guilty! I'm in total agreement - we are at the stage in life where we do WHAT we want, WHEN we want!!

Re: What Is On Your Agenda Today
Today was making spaghetti sauce in the morning and visit to the dentist this afternoon for cleaning and examination. No problems found there. I was very glad that we hadn't had the spaghetti last night as I put a LOT of garlic in and I don't think the hygienist's mask would have helped. Like Starlite, we're just seeing the last of the snow and much of the garden is mucky mud, so dogs have to be cleaned whenever they go out. But I'm starting to get the spring cleaning bug, especially when I look at the dirty windows all around. Also maybe have my eye on new bedding and towels. Just a little splurge, well, maybe a big splurge!
Re: What Is On Your Agenda Today
It's been in the 60's here, but the warmer weather is hard to enjoy when you have no sunshine, rain, and flooding. I keep checking my knuckles for fur, I'm afraid I may turn into a mole.
Crocus and daffodils are up and blooming, and swimming around to the back of the house, I see buds on my lilac trees, and the willow is turning green. The willow is the first to get leaves in the spring, and the last to shed them in the fall. Spring is coming!
I've been housebound since December. Had a 16 hour surgery performed on my leg and jawbone. Doctors took the one of the bones in my leg, along with muscle and tissue to replace my broken jaw bone with. They made the operation sound like a simple procedure.. so how come I spent 5 days in ICU, 2 weeks in the hospital, and 3 more weeks at a rehabilitation center? Once home, I couldn't drive because my leg is weak, and I'm weak weighing in at 96 pounds. When I did finally make it home, my daughter's Christmas present to me was a house cleaner!
My daughter paid for a month, then I kept her on. She comes every other week, and the extra help is just wonderful!
Today my outing consists of taking Granny to the Doctor.
Oh yea.. some butthead tossed out a black Pomeranian for me to care for. He was all matted and dirty, and has quite a gray muzzle, so he must be older. He hasn't been neutered either. I had my son put up some found dog posters, but no response's.

I knew you had some surgery, but didn't know how serious it was. So did it help your jawbone at all? I hope you are slowly, but surely getting stronger. I'd be happy to share some of my excess weight with you!

Re: What Is On Your Agenda Today
Busy, busy, busy people here. OMG Draclvr, where do you get your energy from. I do 15 minutes on the treadmill and all I want to do is nap for 2 hours.
It's nice that everyone is keeping busy especially physically. It's dreary and raining here again today. We had a vicious thunderstorm at 6am this morning and a lot of rain. I hope Pete found somewhere safe and dry to spend the night. I was supposed to do the treadmill today but my ankle is bothering me, I may still do it or else there's always tomorrow
Finally got a doctor's appointment for Tuesday, I'm going to see if this time he'll drain that lump on my foot, but if he tells me to come back I'm going back. This is what I hate about free medicare, if I was paying I would have made him drain that lump the last time I was there, but NO he has to get paid twice.
@Stella, I'm glad the surgery turned out well for you. I hope you continue to keep getting better. Have you talked to a lawyer about suing that dentist. How could he make such a bad mistake like that. Take care and please keep us posted
Well folks, I'm off for a spot of tea, it's that kind of day. Enjoy your day and keep busy

Sounds like it's been a miserable winter for you, Stella. But all that surgery must surely benefit you in the long run. I've been wondering how your jaw was, thanks for updating us.
Starlite, hope your foot is OK. We had that same thunderstorm here around 10:00 am. Did NOT improve the mud in the backyard!

Re: What Is On Your Agenda Today
OMG Stella, you have had your trials and tribulations! I was wondering if your radiation therapy for your throat cancer weakened the bones in your jaw? What a terrible ordeal you went through. And to have lost so much weight. You must be skin and bones. I hope that this new surgery went okay and now you will be on the road to recovery and can enjoy your beautiful land and animals. What a nice thing that you have a house cleaner now. That is a smart daughter you have knowing what you needed!
i have one lousy daffodil blooming - that is it. some buds on the rest of them, but, nothing else blooming. I see one tree outside that looks kind of reddish so I think it is trying to get leaves, but, nothing else with leaves. We had a terrible winter I think it will be quite a while before spring really hits here. however, I did see an oat or wheat field about 1 inch up. so, spring I guess is on the way.

Re: What Is On Your Agenda Today
yes mbday, the radiation I had for the throat cancer ate right through my jaw bone. I also talk like I've had to much to drink
and can no longer swallow. Doctors punched a hole in my stomach and inserted a Peg Tube, that I pour Ensure into 4 to 5 times a day. I'm in Therapy for speech and swallowing. Therapy consists of electroids taped on my throat, and shocking the muscles in there for 50 minutes, 3 times a week. UGH!
Sorry you only have 1 daffodil! I waded through my yard and picked a nice bouquet of them yesterday. Better I get them, than the frost!
