nor I Rosab. Wonder how loving they are or do they recognize their owners much in a personal way. They sure are cute little devils!

"I love hedgies - not seen a live one here on Sanday yet"

May we ask if you've seen the other kind, Rosa? I'm getting very disturbed images here.

Snow's going now and bulbs are coming through, I think they were growing under the snow.

Yes, Diat, unfortunately I have only seen squashed hedgies on the road. And anyway I am glad I dont have hedgies in my garden because Benji used to bring at least one home every single day in Kenya, although he did not harm them at all.

Glad the snow has gone in Canada - has it also gone in U.S. too?

living in the desert - however would I know if the snow has gone yet ! And am so occupied watching the news about either the latest school horrible stabbing incident OR the missing jet liner 370 OR the crisis in the Ukraine that there is not much emphasis on the coldest winter we have had in eons here.

Whatever has gone wrong with our cultures of today! If we are not fighting everywhere, then we are busy with local incidents of some kind that keep everyone on edge.

Do like I do, BD, and don't watch the News - there is nothing more depressing - all doom and gloom.

I try not to let the news get to me so remain interested in what the people are doing and the psychological 'whys' of such and then relate that to the cultural aspect of it all. Main course I was fascinated with in college was Social Psychology and it remains my main interest yet today.

Regarding hedgehogs, I thought about getting one as a pet and even bought a book about caring for them. The African pygmy hedgehog has been captive bred for some time now, so they're not being taken out of the wild. Since they're insectivores, they need the right kind of protein in their diet and should be allowed to explore and forage inside and outside. They also live from 8-10 years, so having one and caring for it properly is an investment in time.

I really don't think anything is any different than it was in the days of WW I and WW II. It's just that the world is completely interconnected now and we hear about EVERYTHING as soon as it happens.

Yep I agree draclvr - however, I think people are better prepared to do more damage now to anyone they dislike or disagree with. So goes technology - not technology that louses things up, it's the people using it.

Does anyone know the relationships on that comedy series? I looked up Brendon Carrol who plays Mrs. Brown:
his daughter in the series in real life is his wife
Winnie, his friend in the series, in real life is his sister
Granddad in the series in real life is Brendon's long time mate
The man who plays the best friend of Mrs. Brown's son and how gets him in trouble all the time in real life is Brendon's own son.
And the gal in the bar who is best friend of the daughter in the series in real life is her sister.

Quite a family affair.
