A-GOG about Baldur's Gate
As my first foray into GOG (Good Old Games) I've got "Baldur's Gate" from them. Their recent misguided marketing stunt apart I'm pretty impressed by what they offer. I'm now happily replaying this old favourite which will keep me busy for a while!

Going retro - playing some older games
I've just started playing the first Avernum game from Spiderweb Software. And a bit of a shock to the system as I hadn't expected so many technological differences to the most recent Avernum game. No path-finding, blocky graphics, more cumbersome user interface for starters. Which doesn't make it a ...

Re: Power Mac (PPC) support being dropped by RPG game compan
Apple themselves have dropped PowerPC support from Snow Leopard, which makes it hard for application developers to continue supporting it.

Re: Eschalon Book 2 release date
Thanks Jude that's worth doing - I tried to avoid checking forums too much, but it was from a forum that I learnt how important Perception was as an attribute to build up. Critical for mages.

Re: Eschalon Book 2 release date
Have now finished! Eschalon Book 2 is a traditional turn-based RPG game. You can play either a male or female character, and choose between playing as a fighter or mage or thief. The game is presented as an isometric third-person view, with dynamic weather which affects gameplay (so firebolts don't ...

Re: Eschalon Book 2 release date
And I've now downloaded the Mac build and have started playing! Looks very good indeed, I find old school games easier to play than 3D ones.

Re: Eschalon Book 2 release date
Yes you can play as either sex - see http://basiliskgames.com/eschalon-book-ii. Shame it's been so delayed but that gives me a breather after finishing "Avernum 6" before I launch into another RPG!

Re: Spiderweb Software: Avernum 6 released on Macs
And over four months later I've finished "Avernum 6"! Value for money, and done in time before the second Eschalon game comes out.
I enjoyed playing it, good variety in the battles and situations. Had better play some Adventure games to keep my hand in there!

Re: Spiderweb Software: Avernum 6 released on Macs
Thanks GL - yes there are pictures of Tabitha on my website. My wife Virginia has had training in pill-popping from a vet, and got with a pill-popping device. Administering the pills to the patient is no longer high melodrama. And the steroids seem to be working. (Thanks Draclvr for the heads up abo...
