Re: RIP Leonard Nimoy

Sad news.
Hmm. Maybe it's a good time to see if I can get the other half to watch something appropriate with me as a tribute.

Re: Forthcoming releases

Possibly also worth noting that since Apple changed to using the same processors as everyone else, porting to Mac is a lot less work than it used to be!

Re: M.C. Beaton

I didn't see the TV version (and haven't read the books), but there's a series of radio adaptations starring the wonderful Penelope Keith:

Re: monkey island 4 install

Indeed, lots of games don't run with scummVM - mostly only ones written using the SCUMM game system (a system developed by Lucasarts for their games - it stands for 'Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion') will. It's been extended to run various other games (old Sierra adventures, for instance)...

Re: Banner Saga

I have Banner Saga (backed it on Kickstarter way back) but haven't played it yet. The soundtrack is great though!

Re: monkey island 4 install

I guess I'm a bit late here, but thought it worth adding: ScummVM won't help you with Monkey Island 4. ScummVM reads SCUMM data files directly rather than running the original game program, so even if a game was 16-bit you could still run it with ScummVM. But Monkey Island 4 uses a different game en...

Re: Lightning Strikes!

You might want to unplug from the phone socket as well as the power point - unless the phone/internet cables around you are all underground, you're more likely to take strike damage through those than from the power socket. My parents lost a modem that way a few years ago.

Re: VMWare Question

Just to check: You have a Windows 8 machine. You have a VM on that which is running XP, and you're running the game on the XP VM?

Assuming that's correct:
Are you saying you can't get the game to run full-screen on the VM, or that you can't get the VM to run full-screen on your PC?

I have the same dilemma - backed both of them on Kickstarter and have just taken delivery of my Wasteland 2 in a lovely old-school big box with a proper manual and a cloth map!

Re: sending a game from my old computer to my new computer

On the plus side, FX Interactive are still selling the game (in Spanish) for €2,95 (around $4) - I don't think I'd realised it was currently available at all!

Re: sending a game from my old computer to my new computer

If you downloaded the game as an installer file (as opposed to something like a Steam download where the download and installation process is automated) and you still have that file you can try installing it on the new computer - in that case the simplest way would probably be to copy the file onto ...

Re: Dracula 5: The Blood Legacy review

Sorry about that, Kickaha! I use the default theme and based the starting colour on that - the darkest red gets harder to read but the rest was supposed to be legible - I'm afraid BBCode doesn't really allow for adjusting according to background colours. Highlighting the text should make it readable...

Re: Thief 4

I'm erring on the side of caution here - I love the original Thief games dearly but the impression I get is that this remake is unlikely to live up to them. It'll be prettier - the graphics of the originals looked a bit dated even when they came out - but from everything I've read this looks to be a...
