Re: What Adventure Game Are You Playing
I didn't use a walkthrough, but got there by trial and error rather than ever figuring out a pattern. Do we know whether there is logic or it's just a terrible puzzle? Other than that I enjoyed the game though - possibly a less immersive experience playing it on my phone with the sound low, but on t...

Re: What is everyone up to?
In the online version the setter's name appears at the top - there may be more than one way to view them but this is the one I see: https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords/cryptic/28345 There is also, rather wonderfully, a master index by setter: https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords/2013/oct/28/cro...

Aha, I was going to say I thought Kickaha was also a devotee of the late great Araucaria! Thanks for the link Val, that looks lovely - I'll have to give it a watch sometime when I'm not working. He also featured on Desert Island Discs a few years ago: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b012f7f3 In the...

Re: What is everyone up to?
Ooh, you're a Guardian crossword fan, Val? I haven't done it regularly in a while (working from home with a 3-year-old force of nature about the house doesn't give the same quiet lunchbreaks I used to have...) but that'd be my crossword of choice! Have you any favourite setters?

Re: Gaming on Android devices
I pretty much only get to play games on my Android phone at the moment - I still don't usually have time to get stuck into a proper adventure game but it'd be good to have the info! Most games for Android are on the Google Play store but some indie ones are available direct from itch.io or the Humbl...

Re: Dreamcatcher Games
Odd - I can understand some of them being forgotten but I'd have thought some - Safecracker and RTMI spring to mind - were outright classics! And I think most people liked Secret Files more than I did, too.

Re: Dreamcatcher Games
Do you mean the games themselves, GL, or that people don't talk about Dreamcatcher? I'd say the games (or some of them at least) are very much part of the adventure canon, but because Dreamcatcher were a publisher rather than a developer I'd be less likely to group the games that way. I'd think of I...

Re: Game Designer in My Family
I remember seeing The Cat and the Coup and thinking it looked interesting - I'm afraid I only got as far as installing it though, I've never got round to actually playing it! I don't think I'd heard of Infinite Children - I'll give it a look.

The Hobbit game I remember was a text adventure!

Quite an appropriate name to have several games behind it!

Re: Favorite Breakfast
Porridge is made with whole rolled oats, not ground into oatmeal - it therefore has a bit more texture to it.
