Re: I can't help but continue to watch auctions

I do the same thing. I like hard copy, being able to hold the game in my hands. But it isn't just that. If I don't have hard copy, I lose the games. Did I buy such and such game at GOG? At ShinyLoot? At Humble? At AG store back when it existed? At Fireflower? At Shadow Tor? At the now-defunct versio...

Re: how to put d drive on my computer

That is so odd! I have NEVER ONCE had Windows try to scan a disc in my optical drive. I can go read a disk to see if it's the one I want immediately. That wasn't mbday's problem anyway. She just hadn't expanded her This PC to be able to view all her drives. Her problem was that she couldn't see wha...

Re: how to put d drive on my computer

That is so odd! I have NEVER ONCE had Windows try to scan a disc in my optical drive. It's not a problem I ever had with XP and earlier. It first appeared with Vista, and has been a royal pain ever since. Windows thinks all your stuff is a virus. If you never had the problem with 10, that explains ...

Re: how to put d drive on my computer

You can blame Microsoft for the confusion. Ever since Vista I've had problems seeing what was on CD or DVD drives. Microsoft wants to scan everything on the CD or DVD disc before displaying it -- just in case a virus magically popped up out of nowhere. Windows takes over half an hour to do the stupi...

I never tried any of the "Boot CD's" from Amazon.
I did download, burn, and try the UBCD. (Universal Boot CD) from

Re: XP Won't Boot

The hal.dll file is probably right where it's supposed to be. Chances are the boot.ini file is telling XP that XP is installed on the wrong hard drive (or partition). This can computers that are set up to dual boot or multi-boot. Say you bought a laptop that came with Vista installed, and you don't ...

Re: Atlantis 2: Beyond Atlantis

Oh, that is another oldie, but a good I really need! Thank you for the tip, Ghostlady! Having fun in Shivers and already captured my first Ixupi! EDIT: Well, shucks. It is only for XP or Vista. The GOG version uses ScummVM, and ScummVM is not limited to XP and Vista. You can probably install the ga...

Re: 80 Days by Frogwares

There is a patch for 80 Days (2005)
https://www.gamepressure.com/download.asp?ID=10354

Also, it might need a NoCD to play on anything later than XP.

Re: gabriel knight 3 on windows 8

The OP should either find a friend or family member who is able to make the changes suggested in the GOG forum, or take the computer to a computer repair shop and pay them to make the necessary changes so the game runs. I don't mean to sound dismissive about finding someone else to do the configuri...

Re: gabriel knight 3 on windows 8

Since this game is 16-bit, The game is not 16-bit. It is a Windows 95/98 game from 1999 that requires 16-bit SVGA graphics, not a 16-bit operating system. GOG should have packaged it in one of the emulators. I can't look it up right now, but does GOG list the game as being able to run on Windows 10...

Re: What adventure game are you playing?

I finished RealMyst Masterpiece and really enjoyed revisiting all the ages. The game was designed to be played with the mouse or the WASD keys with mouse. I chose the mouse but found that the movement was sometimes not as smooth as it was in the original RealMyst. I had that same problem with the &...

Re: Geospots, a Carol Reed Game

I've always been attracted to the Carol Reed games, but there aren't any that have been ported to Macs. Actually the Carol Reed games from Shades of Black through Fall of April used to be made for Mac OSX 10.7 or higher as well as Windows. Web archive page for Fall of April Web archive page for The...

Game Saves Database?

I get as far as http://mysterymanor.net/attic.htm
but when I click the link for the Game Saves Database it gives me a blank page.

Is this a temporary thing or are the saves gone?
