The Almost Gone

This is not really a review because my review writing days are behind me. I just finished the game The Almost Gone on my iPad. I don’t know whether it’s available on other platforms. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. Pros: It had a good story and the puzzles were fun, with varying levels of difficulty but...

Re: Emojis Emojis Emojis

My older son has a Samsung phone and I have an iPhone. Sometimes when I text emojis, he sees something different than what I sent. The most-used ones generally come out the same, but the more obscure ones don’t always translate. 🦠

A perfect example: I put in a round virus and got a paramecium.

Re: Emojis Emojis Emojis

This is a test from my iPad. I haven’t always had good luck with them appearing outside of text messages.
😬🌞🧠🐌
Looks like it works. At least I see them.

Re: Help me remember an old game name

My sister is a neonatal nurse practitioner. When she was in grad school, one of her assignments was to design her ideal NICU. We worked together to make a pop up model of it. It wasn’t very elaborate but it had a lot of things. She says she still has it somewhere. I should get her to pull it out.

Re: Help me remember an old game name

I did not know they were books. I just put all three of them in my cart on Amazon. I have quite a few pop up books and a couple with other types of interactivity. One in particular that these books brought to mind is The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Letters. It’s a children’s book that can be enj...

Help me remember an old game name

There was this game, I want to say back in the early to mid-90s, that was on a lot of collectors’ rarity lists in the 2000s. It was a series of postcards exchanged between two lovers. Each postcard had some clicky areas, and the player had to do some figgerin’ to advance, but it was more of an inter...

Re: Who here plays on iPad?

I prefer my iPad because it’s so portable. Also, the screen is so high res that I can’t even see the pixels, and I can hold it right up to my face if necessary to see better. Everything just works. No fiddling with settings and drivers and patches. The games are usually very inexpensive. I’d say I p...

Re: Who here plays on iPad?

I just started a game last night called The Almost Gone. I like it so far. It’s different than the usual run of games. I am going room by room through a house, discovering my story and trying to get out. I’ve figured out a couple of things, but I expect a pretty good challenge.

Re: Check In

I’m doing fine. Nobody I know has gotten coronavirus. The prevalence here in Oregon is lower than in a lot of other states.

Re: Who here plays on iPad?

Oh, and how could I forget Tormentum. One of my all-time faves.

Not an adventure game but I’d recommend it to anyone: Gorogoa. It’s the first truly unique game I’ve seen in a really long time.

Re: Who here plays on iPad?

I could make a whole list of games worthy of your attention, if I could remember anything past what I ate for breakfast. Here are some suggestions that are all straight up adventure games, no reflexes needed and no dying. Anything by the developer Glitch Games. They are without exception really grea...

Who here plays on iPad?

I don’t really see much talk here about any kind of mobile gaming. There is a rich selection of adventure games available in the App Store (stupid Siri’s capitalization, not mine—I can’t be arsed to try to fix it because Siri is also stubborn, not to mention arrogant enough to think App Store even d...
