Re: What is everyone up to?
Thanks, everyone. I know we've all been through it with our critters, and I appreciate your kind words.

Re: What is everyone up to?
He was 12, give or take a month. We adopted him from our local Humane Society in Nov. of 2009, and they figured he was about 10 months old. He was our Houdini dog - a master escape artist - until we had to put a zap wire across the top of our fence to keep him from jumping over. Of course, he then w...

Re: What is everyone up to?
I'm feeling very sad because my dog Zork died yesterday. He was loosing weight and couldn't keep dry dog food down, so I was cooking for him. That worked nicely for a couple of weeks, but then he was sick again and just stopped eating. The vet told me his liver was failing, and he didn't have much t...

I'd get either the little robot from Machinarium or the group of 5 characters from Botanicula.

Re: Evolution
I thought you might have read it. I remember seeing Bakker on tv years ago and really enjoyed hearing his theories regarding dinosaurs. Not all his collegues agreed with him on some points, but I liked his enthusiasm. I'll have to do some research to see what he's doing now.

Re: Evolution
I like Stephen Baxter's Manifold sci-fi series, and I have Evolution sitting still unread on my shelf. I will move it up in my read-soon pile. I think you might also like Raptor Red by paleontologist Robert Bakker. It's told from the point of view of a female Utahraptor during the Cretaceous period ...

My sister and I are eligible for the vaccine, but the supply is dwindling fast here. I'm going to see if I can get on the list for an appointment, even if it doesn't come for a month or two.

That's neat, Jen. I've seen pictures but have never met a hairless cat. Some of my small pleasures: Opening a new book for the first time Having a big cup of Sleepytime tea while reading in bed The ritual of filling a fountain pen with bottled ink Listening to Pachebel's Canon when I'm feeling tense...

Re: What is everyone up to?
I've been trying to limit the news to once a day, simply because it has been so upsetting. If I watch it before bed, I have trouble falling asleep. The New Yorker has 3 regular crosswords online every week, starting with the most difficult on Mondays and the easiest on Fridays. They also have a coup...

Re: What is everyone up to?
My sister and I are also doing a jigsaw puzzle, and I've just started book 3 in the Game of Thrones series. My dog, Zork, has been unable to keep any dry dog food down and has gotten very thin, so I've been preparing meals for both dogs, since they're inseparable except when asleep. This morning the...

Yes, the atmosphere in the screenshots looks quite creepy and surreal when your character is hooked into the mind of another.
