Just close your Firefox by clicking on the red "X" in the upper right corner.

Then use the Start button to shut down or put it to sleep for the night.

Now sure if that's exactly what you meant. Did you find anything in that Restore Session link I posted?

Does this work even if I have multiple tabs open, Drac? Or do I have to close all tabs one at a time. Remember I like to start up the next day with the previous session restored!

Good question - I don't know! Let me give it a try.

EDIT: OK. Here is what I found. There are two ways to do this. The first is found in the Session Restore link I posted. Assuming you have the Menu Bar at the top of the page, click on History and then click on Restore Previous Session. Is this where you are getting the "old" tabs? When I have several tabs open, I click on the red "X" and close Firefox. The next time I open Firefox, I click on History and then Restore Previous Session and it works.

You can also use the suggestion Diat60 made about selecting Show My Windows and Tabs From Last Time instead of your home page in the Options menu.
