Mystery Manor was very slow for me earlier this evening, but it's fine now.

Most cell phones take some pretty decent pictures, at least for viewing through the phone. But when you go to enlarge and print the can get pixelly. Told my husband if you want a camera, get one, not a new phone. Some cameras turn out these tiny little pictures can barely see them.

Agreed ! I think a lot of the reason why cell phone cameras , most of them anyhow , don't take very good pictures , has a bunch to do with the quality of the cameras . Most are in the 2-3 megapixel range . There are a couple ,the LG Arena comes to mind , where the camera is better (5 megapixels) . Good cameras on cell phones primarily reside in the smartphone area . My Sony Xperia has an 8 megapixel camera . A really decent still camera can be had quite cheeply these days .

Well, I have a good Cannon Digital camera - have no complaints. Sent you all pics of the new PC last year with this camera. It is just I am often out and about and see something that I want to send to someone but no camera. So are you all saying that even pics downloaded from a less than 8 megapicel do not do well on the PC?

Well, maybe I have to face it - if I want a decent camera pic, cannot afford same via a cell phone. So may have to adjust my thinking and just go for the basic phones (very inexpensive) to use for safety sake. Shuckin's Does anyone have a camera phone that they would be willing to take a picture and send to me to see how a lesser than 8 MP looks like? Might determine my decision.

This being financially disadvantage sure does not set well with me

GRRRRRRRRRRR maybe will go join the people on Wall Street

Maybe part of the problem is with MM site. Am back to having to log in all the time. Sometimes all the info is there, just click the login button; other times I have to type in the login info all over again. And I do click remember all this every time to no avail. Anything I can do to clear this up? :drunken:

No BD , not saying that at all ! What I meant is , cell cameras will take decent enough pictures to view on your phone ,however , once transferred to a pc , they may become grainy the larger the picture . You can still transfer pictures from your cell to your pc , but in order to see them in the best possible way , try not to enlarge them too much .

You would be very hard pressed to find a cell phone made in the last 5 years , that doesn't have a camera on it .

As for the login problem , I would suggest clearing out all of the password info & cookies for MM , then re enter the info again . The problem should resolve itself .

Just for instance, BD... remember that picture you were finally able to send me from the T-Mobile phone? It was a very small picture... From what I understand, if you want good pictures like you would get from a camera, you need to have a smart phone.

I have a small digital camera that I got for a cruise we took a few years ago. It was small enough to fit in my pocket and was 10.1 megapixels. It took great pictures on an SD card which I then popped in my card reader and uploaded to my computer. I think I only paid about $75 for it.

I don't know a lot about cell phones, but it could be that you won't be able to get an inexpensive phone for emergencies that will also take decent pictures.

And the last time you were having this issue with having to log in all the time, was because the setting in your options to "remember history" wasn't selected. Go to Tools/Options/Privacy. ALSO!! If you have cleared out your history and cookies per the instructions from TW, your MM login will have also been deleted. Log in again and select the "remember me" or whatever it is and you should be set again.

Nope the history was set correctly when the tech said to clear the cookies. Have been having this problem for some time. But I bet my going the internet options route to clear everything is the culprit - have got it checked there and must uncheck it again. Chickens coming home to roost :?

Smart phones take really good pictures, but I haven't attempted to print one out so don't know what the end result would be. The iPhone will even take screen shots so you can steal pictures from anywhere, nice little feature. But for your use, I would do as Drac said and get a little digital camera and not worry about using the phone camera. Here is an example of a picture I took, downloaded to Facebook and then saved back to my computer. Also it is off the street we live on, I love living in the country.

And when you upload to Facebook and back down to the computer, it reduces resolution drastically. If you could get them directly to your computer, you would have the original resolution. That pic is only 135 Kb and I guarantee that iPhone took it in a MUCH higher resolution. This is the picture BD took of one of her birds, uploaded to the T-Mobile website and forwarded to me through a link. Not bad at all, but a very low resolution.

Yes, I am considering getting the cell phone for just emergency use and maybe long distance calling if my Magic Jack does not straighten up more than it has. I hate to lug my digital camera with me all the time - especially now that I have to lug a cane around when walking. And have to be sure it is fired up all the time. Nope the way to really go is a cell phone with camera on it. Well, Christmas is coming and when family asks what I want - maybe can negotiate something with them :) So in meantime will keep on a lookin'

Have to wrestle with my Magic Jack phone now and see why they suddenly changed their presentation! Why can't technology stand still for a bit and not keep upgrading or changing all the time.

Yep it happened! That error message just told me it could not post and I did NOT click on retry. So sent message again and this time it went BUT there was the first post despite the fact that the error message said not sending. Sorry about the double post and not sure now what to do when I post - if I get the error message will have to leave MM site and then come back to see if the post really went or not.

Anything differently I should be doing to bypass all of this? Ain't life confusing at times

Draclvr the downloaded directly pictures are huge, I just wanted to see how it looked reduced since they always look good on Facebook. I think it is time to download the whole folder from the phone again since I put my laptop apparatus all back together again.

BD it is hard to keep up with all the features of the new phones out there. They change to new models so quickly. If you knew what carrier you want to use, it would help to narrow down the selection.

I will delete one of the posts for you BD, usually they do go through, even with the error message. If you want to check, you shouldn't have to leave the site, just let it bring you back to where you were on it's own.
