Not sure if this is a proper question for a game site or am on the correct forum but here goes.

My last server re my cell phone suddenly developed a 'left hand did not know what the right hand was doing' syndrome and so fouled up my service, I grew disgusted and quit.

Now have a new cell phone and though it has many features I may not ever use, seems they all are now coming out this way. I did like the camera and wanted to use it to download to my PC to retrieve the pictures. Am having all kinds of problems trying to do so. Maybe someone could help here?

My phone is a T Mobile SamsungT249. I plugged it in to my desktop (XP) and when I viewed the files for downloading - they are mostly all empty! So tried it on my Win 7 laptop. Same thing. I did have to download a driver for the cell phone re the laptop but the same files came up and came up just as empty.

Do not understand what I am doing so not sure where the problem lies - me, cell phone, PC or what. The instruction booklet (oh dear) only has instructions for sending the pictures via a message to someone. Went online to T-Mobile and there went around in circles trying to get an English version manual.

So am lost at this point. Trying to avoid going down to the mall where I bought the phone and "jumping all over the salesman" who sold the phone to me assuring me it was "ready to go". Just take a picture, plug phone into your PC and follow instructions.

Yeah right! I have found whenever anyone says that phrase - plug in and follow instructions, I know I am in for a fare the well of going in circles.

Does anyone here know anything that can help? Or should I stoke up the fire in my eye and have at it with the salesman at the mall?

Dahila, I have a digital camera I upload pics to my PC, but the PC and the camera sync for this happen.

Do you get any indication your phone and PC have synchronized or even recognized each other. Don't quote me on this, but unless they both agree each other exist, you won't be able to pass information between the two.

What you could try is to look under 'Settings' and see if there is a Synchronizing choice. Again, don't quote me on this, but maybe this is what you have to do in order for your phone and PC to recognize each other. And if that doesn't work, keep looking under 'Settings' and if there's nothing under 'Settings' try another topic. What you need may be there, you just have to find it.

My suggestion would be to plug it in to your computer, where it should show up as a new drive in your Windows Explorer. Just use the Windows Explorer to copy or move the photo files to your computer, and then open them from there.

Intend to follow both suggestions here. But embarrassed to say, GussNemo that I do not know what the 'settings' are to which you refer, but will check around and hopefully stumble upon them and work from there.

And have phone hooked up to try the Explorer connection. But for the first time the phone claims it is 'charging' after I hooked it up to my PC. Not sure whether I dare unplug it or leave it to charge. Thought charging occurred only when it needed to be plugged into an electrical outlet. Oh my - this tech age!!!!

Ah ha - just tried the explorer and did indeed find the phone. BUT got the same folder as before and most of the files are empty! Those not empty - when I keep clicking to get pictures, I just get an index file which I can't open.

So back to settings - will search where they are. Do not yet know if the phone and PC recognize each other through the files that do come up since most of them are empty.

But thanks for trying and will keep on keepin' on hoping to avoid another trip and confrontation at the mall.

When I go to My Computer, it does seem to recognize the cell phone because all the folder with many empty files is shown on Removable Disc G. So I would think that means the PC and Phone are at least 'kissin' cousins' if not recognizing each other?

Still looking for phrase/word Settings GussNemo but no luck so far.

Boo hoo Rosa. thought we had in made in the shade, ut my cell phone refuses to download the Media Manager that I need evidently to use for downloading pictures.
Supposedly according to the link you sent, it says just plug in your cell phone and it will download Media Manager and you carry on from there. Well, my phone downloads a folder with a set of files but nothing matches Media Manager.

So not sure where to go now or what to do. Just feel I am missing the boat somewhere but where I can't as yet figure out. Am sending an attachment to see if these files ring a bell with anyone.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

What you're looking at is the contents of the phone or "drive" as Windows sees it. If it is downloading and installing this Media Manager, you would see that on your desktop after you reboot the computer. When you plug in your phone, don't do anything but see if it attempts to download this Media Manager software to your computer. It should create an icon on your desktop. Windows should be doing this by finding the Media Manager installer on the memory card of your phone.

DCIM should be the folder with the camera pictures. They should all be in there as .JPG files.

Off and running Draclvr and if it does not then, that dippy salesman at the mall does not know what he is doing/not doing. Twice now I had to go back because of something he did not do! That is why if I have to go back yet again - yep there will be fire in my eye!!!!!!

Also will check out that DCIM file to see what is there Jen.

Did as you said draclvr and all it did was bring up the files that I just posted here. Nothing resembles Media Manager - fudge and such. And I looked in the DCIM file, Jen. Guess what - empty!

Well I took pictures and when it said save - did so. So am back to square one - will go take some pics again and see how I do. If it turns out to be ME futzing up again, I will hide

Maybe I should have chosen a different avatar than Black Dahlia. The girl that had that name very long ago in L. A., CA was murdered and the case rather fascinated me. I think they called her The Black Dahlia because of her raven black hair and she usually wore black clothes. Anyway she certainly came to a poor end in a vacant lot somewhere in L. A. Her real name was Elizabeth Short.

Well, you've got the big stuff worked out since you can see your phone! Now if you can just get something into the files!

Exactly which phone do you have?

As I've said before, I build computers, but I don't "do" cell phones!

SGH T249 Samsung from T-Mobile. Rosab. sent me a link but as I read it, it takes about the T-Mobile Smart Phone. Now mine does not say that anywhere. Maybe that is the hitch?

I'm thinking it might be because I found references to the smart phones needing the Media software. Let me see what I can find on your phone.

I looked through the User's Manual on-line and it doesn't say anything about the Media software, so I think you're correct that it's only for smart phones.

According to the manual, after you take a photo the first option presented is: Send to My Album Online? If you select yes and you have set up an account online with an Album, it will be sent there. If you select No, it will be saved to the Photos file on the phone. Your files look like they have a file named Images instead of Photos. The DCIM file is also usually for photos.

It also says that while you are in camera mode, you can select Options and from that menu do any number of things with your photos. Scroll through the options to find Go To Photos and they should be displayed there. If they are being saved like they say they should be, you will see your photos. If you see your photos, try looking in those files again from your PC.
