Have a lovely Asus monitor and despite the instructions cannot follow what they say. It has four buttons on the bottom and I no sooner think I understand a direction, then I get lost trying to follow the next one.

And despite what the directions say, seem not to be able to get the desired effect they claim.

Does anyone have such a monitor that could describe how the programmed theirs? Right now am most interested in laying some games, but they are so dark, I cannot see to effectly pick up clues.

Would appreciate simplier instructions than I am encountering.

I have an Asus too BD and I don't usually mess with the buttons, I think the night view is the lightest. There is another one that has brightness, contrast and all of that on it, but for the life of me I don't remember what I pressed to increase brightness. When you press the buttons it brings up little menus on some of them, but I need to figure out which one goes side to side like the arrows indicate. I usually manage to just turn off the monitor by pressing that button. I will mess with it and see what happens, now where did I put that little booklet?

Well at least you got a booklet with yours. I just got a manual from on line and tryng to follow it is 'greek to me'! I no sooner get it figured out and then when I move to the next button, it seems to cancel out just what I learned. - sigh

If I did get a little booklet, now I don't even remember if I did or not. Well it has been almost a year. Edit here: by messing with the buttons I am only able to change the brightness, the little menu comes up on one button and the ones to each side control the more or less. I have five buttons plus the power on/off one. I think it is supposed to work with the enter key and the up/down arrows, but I have a funky gaming keyboard (that doesn't do those things, like when reloading the OS) so I will have to switch back to my "basic" keyboard and see if that does anything. I get to the point of where it asks do I want to reset and I don't. I will look for a booklet and try with the old keyboard and see what happens. Probably not right away though as my grandson, girlfriend and her toddler are coming for a weeklong visit tomorrow. Meanwhile try nightmode and raise your brightness to the max which is 100. That is all I am able to do until further investigation.

Another thought, maybe the NVidia card stuff is overriding the monitor settings, there should be something there to mess with your settings. I took a brief look but don't have time to check further right now. I don't know what card you have, but if it is NVidia there should be a little squiggly looking green thing in the taskbar, mine is right next to the clock.

You speak of using your keyboard. Is the keyboard supposed to work with the monitor settings? I notice the Exit word has a letter S beside it but my keyboard does nothing for it - unless it is because it is an ergonomic keyboard.

Doesn't do anything for me either, nor the enter or side to side arrows. I know I did something when I first got it, but I need to look up model. I have the 24" one.

What is the model number of your monitor, BD? If it's the VE248H, I have already downloaded the manual. I've never found any of the monitor display options particularly easy to follow in any brand! The "hotkeys" don't seem to have anything to do with the keyboard, but are specific functions assigned to the buttons on the monitor.

If you can tell me what effect you are trying to get or change, I'll try to help if I can!

I got the manual draclvr and believe you directed it to me. But again trying to understand what they are saying as compared to what is on my monitor keys is another story. Don't think I am that much of an idiot to not understand. Who writes these manuals anyway?! Would like to give them some lessons in English

Anyway I am trying to lighten my screen so I can see to play your Dracula game much better. I have it on game mode but need to make it lighter yet.

So, is that the correct model number? The VE248H?

According to the manual, you can use the S hotkey (the one on the far left) to scroll through the different preset scene modes. Scroll through the five options by using the 2nd (left arrow) or the 4th (right arrow) buttons. When the selection you want is highlighted, press Menu to activate it. Press the S hotkey to exit.

Quote:
• Scenery Mode: best choice for scenery photo display with SPLENDID™
Video Enhancement.
• Standard Mode: best choice for document editing with SPLENDID™
Video Enhancement.
• Theater Mode: best choice for movie with SPLENDID™ Video
Enhancement.
• Game Mode: best choice for game playing with SPLENDID™ Video
Enhancement.
• Night View Mode: best choice for dark-scene game or movie with
SPLENDID™ Video Enhancement

So, to keep things simple first (you know me!), have you tried the Night View Mode for the Dracula game? I remember it being very dark too.

I need to try also, sorry for not being more helpful but I have grown grandson, his girlfriend and a three year old visiting. Plus today I had to take the 15 year old down to Kona to remove his braces. All is rather hectic here as we just found out last Wednesday that he was accepting at Kamehameha Schools (been on the wait list for a year now), there is much to do before school starts on August 4th. The problem with these buttons is that you can't really "see" what any of them say on the monitor, it is like guessing what you are pressing, icon is on front, button under it. I have mine in nightmode and my brightness is at 95% which makes some websites rather shocking in lightness. I agree is is a pain to set up, you need to set a bright light pointing right at it to even see the icon and it is still hard.
