katbear mentioned this game over at Gameboomers. :scare Amnesia The Dark Descent :scare I just finished the demo and it is a seriously creepy, scary game. Therefore, MUST HAVE IT! The game comes from the creators of the Penumbra games, but the interface is much improved. It is a download only at this time and think I'll go ahead and get it from Steam.

No, it's an action game. It's first person and you move the character with the WASD keys and change the camera angle with the mouse. So far all I've had to do is interact with objects, open and close doors and jump up on some boxes to avoid some invisible creepy thing. I think the "action" part is pretty limited. No weapons are involved and you don't kill anything - you must hide or run like hell!

I looked and I feel the urge for a weapon!! It sort of reminds me of Silent Hill, which reminds me that I didn't finish #3 and 4 of those.

I got so completely creeped out in this game, I had to quit tonight. That hasn't happened since the basement scene in Vampire The Masquerade... I think I need to play this part in broad daylight!

Sheesh! At this rate, I'll never get through this game. I had about a half hour to play today and since I was close to solving one of the locked gates, thought I'd get through that part. Holy crap! Got the gate open, hear a growl and turned around to have one of the monsters right on top of me! I actually jumped and screamed! Thank heavens hubby wasn't home! And this was in broad daylight.

It sort of cool that the "monsters" in this game are these sort of human looking things without any real features or color. So the sight isn't scary at all; but it's the way they did the game to set you up to be completely scared. Very well done if this is your thing!

Hee Hee, I can just imagine you sitting there scared witless.

Do you also like horror movies, Drac?

Seems like a cool game. Maybe I'll try it out soon. It looks like there is a Mac demo available.

I noticed that too, Jude. If you like scary stuff, this definitely fits the bill. Scared witless, might be exactly it, Rosaboobie - I nearly soiled myself that time!
